Add Content to a Module

Get Ready!

  1. Open your Canvas course and go to the Modules.
  2. In a separate window, go to the WWU Libraries website and find the name(s) of the LibGuides or Databases that you want to add to Canvas (links below):

Add a Module Item

  1. Once in the modules, click the “add module item” button �
  2. From the “Add” drop-down menu, select “External Tool.”�
  3. Select “LibApps Library Content” from the list of tools.

Choose Content

  1. You will then be presented with a dialog box to select the content you want to display.
  2. From the LibGuides Site pull-down menu, select “Library Guides – libguides.wwu.edu.
  3. Choose the content type that you want to display. Dropdown menus will appear as needed to identify the specific content.
  4. Click the “Embed Content” button.

Choose Content

  • This brings you back to the External Tools page...just click ”Add Item” to finish.�
  • The link is now showing in the Modules. You can Edit the link to rename it something more useful for the students.

Don’t forget to Publish it!

Done!

  • The content is now in the modules.
  • When students click the link in the module, they will see the content.
  • When teachers click the link to view the content, they are presented with the option to View Content (as a student), or Edit Selection.
  • Edit Selection deletes your module item and you start over to select new content.
