What is CTE?

  • CTE is Career and Technical Education Programming
  • CTE is NOT a pot of extra money to support programs and courses you are already required to do
  • CTE has two funding pots, State EIA as well as Federal Perkins.
  • In SCPCSD schools, CTE is a cohesive pathway of courses and experiences that will lead students 12th grade down to 6th grade on a career pathway, potentially to an associates degree, industry certificate, or completer status.
  • Our schools have agreements with local institutions of higher education to ensure students have access to courses and experiences that will set them on the path of post-secondary success
  • CTE is a LOT of work

Coding Students to Ensure Funding

  1. Locate the student in Powerschool
  2. Click ‘All Enrollments’
  3. Ensure the student is enrolled in a CTE Course
  4. Navigate to the EFA screen
  5. Set the EFA code to VOC

**Remember, the highest weighted EFA should be set as the Primary EFA-this may not be VOC. If VOC is not the highest weight for the student, it should be coded in the EFA secondary fields

Students coded as VOC who are not enrolled in CTE qualified courses will result in repayment of funds by the school to SDE.

Due Date: July 15, 2023

    • To be collected via EpiCenter by July 15th.

  • It’s a great deal of information. Allow yourself plenty of time to complete the application properly.

Ensuring Program Cohesiveness and Alignment

  • We are not offering a hodgepodge of CTE courses just to secure funding.
  • There should be program alignment between grade levels
  • Consider what your community needs are, and what local feeder or receiving schools are offering

How SCPCSD Allocates Funds

  • Come one come all with grades 12 down to 6. Funding is NOT guaranteed.
  • If you are a current school, have attended this webinar, and submitted a complete and compliant application by July 15, 2023, we will examine your 135th day report for number of students coded as VOC
  • Once SCDE allocates funds to us, funds will be allocated to schools based on a per pupil methodology for students coded as VOC on your 135 day report for both Perkins and EIA funding.
