Learning Intentions:

PHamily Values

The success of Patrick Henry High School begins with our students.

Attendance Matters

WHAT ARE THE EXPECTATIONS FOR YOU AND SCHOOL ATTENDANCE?

• Be at school EVERYDAY…Except, please stay home when you are sick!
• If you are sick or have a legitimate reason for missing school (doctor’s appointment, college visit) make sure your parent/guardian sends in a professional note (a note from the doctor) or a note so that we have a record of why you are absent. We need the note within three business days.
• If you are feeling stressed or having a hard time with something that is happening at school talk to your counselor, administrator or teacher so that we can help! Our job is to support YOU!

WHAT HAPPENS IF I MISS TOO MANY DAYS OF SCHOOL?

• If you exceed 10 blocks of any one class you and an attendance waiver must be requested by your parent/guardian. The attendance team will review waivers in May to determine if additional seat-time is required for approval.
• If you miss more than 10 blocks in a class, you may have to make up seat time.
• If you do not make up the seat time, you risk having to take a class over from the beginning even if you had a passing grade.
• …AND IF YOU ARE A SENIOR…
• You could lose your exam exemptions at the end of the year (and you don’t want to lose that privilege).

PHHS Mobile Device/Headphones (including earbuds) Expectations

Expectations for Mobile Device/Headphones (including earbuds)

• Students are permitted to use their mobile devices during class changes and lunch only. During class, study hall and PHlex, students are only permitted to use their mobile device with teacher’s discretion.
• Students are only permitted to have their headphones on while in the classroom at the teacher’s discretion.
• All mobile devices/earbuds should be powered off and out of sight during classroom instruction.
• Students are expected to store their mobile devices/headphones (including earbuds) in their backpacks during classroom instruction.
• If a student does not have a backpack to store their mobile device/headphones (including earbuds), then a backpack will be provided.
• Students may use mobile devices/headphones (including earbuds) for instructional purposes at the teacher’s direction.
• If a student is not meeting expectations, the teacher will notify the administration using the Google form and say to the student, “I want to make sure that you are aware that you are not meeting the expectations for mobile device use.”
• Failure to attend and comply with assigned discipline will result in further disciplinary action.

Teachers will review with all classes during the first week of school.

PHamily Advisory

Why PHamily Advisory is being implemented:

• Provide every student with an additional staff member to connect with for support.
• We want to continue to build better connections between our students and staff.
• Form lasting relationships between students (We are PHamily)

What is PHamily Advisory:

• Each student will have a teacher, counselor, or administrator to serve as their PHamily Advisor for the remainder of their time at PHHS.
• Meetings will cover a variety of topics to support student learning, growth, and help us better connect with all students.
• Students will be the same grade level.
• After the first week of school, meetings will occur once per month.
• Meetings will be done during PHlex. On designated PHamily Advisory days, there will only be travel to PHamily Advisory locations.

Be Safe and Accountable

If you see something, say something!

• Let a staff member know as soon as possible.
• inside and outside of school
• Hold each other accountable, keep yourself and others safe, and ensure you are both respectful and receiving respect.

• are only allowed while in a classroom at the discretion of the teacher

If any person, with the intent to coerce, or intimidate, or harass any person, shall use a computer or computer network to communicate obscene, vulgar, profane, lewd, lascivious, or indecent language, or make any suggestion or proposal of obscene nature or threaten any immoral act he/she shall be guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor.

Student Travel During the Instructional Day

Expectations for students traveling during the school day

• Interacting with staff and students
• Exemplify the PHamily Values when interacting with all staff and each other
• Traveling during the instructional block
• The 3 Ps
• Purpose for leaving the classroom
• Plan to get to destination and return to classroom quickly
• Pass with destination identified
• Sign-in/Sign-out
• When leaving/re-entering a classroom, you must sign-in/sign-out.
• Announcements and Dismissal
• Bus changes will be announced prior to dismissal each day

Student Travel During the Instructional Day

Each classroom has one restroom pass for students to use when going to the restroom. Patriot Passes will be used for travel to all other locations.

​

• During class, only the 400s restrooms will be open.
• Restrooms will be closed during class transition.
• During lunch, the lobby restrooms will be open only for students in lunch.

​

All Blocks

• No student travel for the first 5 minutes
• No student travel for the last 5 minutes

PHlex Expectations

PHlex will occur every day (11:51 a.m. - 12:16 p.m.)

• The bell will ring at 11:46 a.m. to end A2/B2.
• Students have 5 minutes to arrive at their PHlex destination.
• The bell will ring at 11:51 a.m. to begin PHlex.
• Restrooms will be closed during PHlex transition, then reopen at 11:51 a.m.
• Only students that have passes will travel during PHlex.

PHlex expectations:

• Obtain a pass prior to the start of PHlex.
• Take all belongings to your PHlex destination, as you will not return to your A2/B2 class.
• Sign-out of your A2/B2 class with your destination.
• Check in to your PHlex destination upon arrival.

Lunch Blocks

Expectations during lunch

• Remain in the cafeteria for the duration of your assigned block
• Clean up after yourself
• Remain seated until the bell rings
• Use the restrooms near the auditorium
• Cannot leave cafeteria without a written pass

Student Fees

Student Fees

• Ms. Chali, our Bookkeeper, will take these payments at the finance window during the allotted times.
• Tuesday, August 22, Thursday, August 24, and Tuesday, August 29 (8:30am-12:00pm)
• Additionally, students and parents will also be able to pay fees during the lunch block on August 23, 2023 and August 30, 2023. Any class fees after these days should be taken to the student’s teacher for receipting or paid online through the online system under “pay obligations”.

When Arriving to School

Expectation:

• As soon as you enter the building, you should:
• Get breakfast (if needed)
• Go directly to class

​

• Be on time
• Teachers will have doors closed and locked at the ringing of the bell.
• Tardy Table Location:
• Top of Cafeteria Steps
• Administrator and a teacher will be present at the table
• Tardies are cumulative each semester
• Each block counts (5, 10, 15, etc)
• Documentation of Tardies begins Monday, 8/28/2023

Afternoon Dismissal

• Know your bus number and group/wave information.
• Listen for bus changes over the announcements at the end of the day, and check the whiteboard in the front lobby before exiting to the bus loop.
• Exit the building

• riders should be picked up in the senior parking lot

• ** Code Of Conduct ***
• Students must attend all scheduled classes or an approved school activity on the day of competition/activity to be eligible to participate in extracurricular activities on that day. The principal or his/her designee may make exceptions to this standard for students with extenuating and/or unusual circumstances.
