A Foundational Truth for us to Master

1. Three-Phase Pattern

All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. (Isaiah 53 : 6)

People are Separated from their God

"There is nothing that enters a man from outside which can defile him; but the things which come out of him, those are the things that defile a man. (Mark 7 : 15)

Sin is the Cause of the Separation

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5 : 8)

2. Four Steps to God

a. God

Holy

Loving

Know that the LORD, He [is] God; [It is] He [who] has made us, and not we ourselves; [We are] His people and the sheep of His pasture. (Psalm 100 : 3)

This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. (1John 1 : 5)

Rebelled

Broken God’s Law

For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one [point,] he is guilty of all. (James 2 : 10)

The LORD looks down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there are any who understand, who seek God. They have all turned aside, They have together become corrupt; [There is] none who does good, No, not one. (Psalm 14 : 2 - 3)

c. Jesus Died to Reconcile People to their Creator

For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5 : 6 - 8)

(The Sacraments)

"Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent (Acts 17 : 30)

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name (John 1 : 12)

5. The Roman Road

Believe … Confess

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

(Romans 10 : 9 - 10)

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3 : 23)

For the wages of sin [is] death, but the gift of God [is] eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6 : 23)
