Why YOU should use a SMART Board

  • SMART Boards cost around $3500 dollars. We barely ever see our professors using this valuable piece of technology. Don’t waste this opportunity!
  • Students in the Education major could benefit from this technology because many school systems have invested in SMART Boards for their classrooms, and this will help them in their future career.
  • Students will more likely pay attention and want to participate.

How does a SMART Board work?

  • SMART Boards are interactive white boards.
  • These can be connected to your computer or projector.
  • SMART Boards have digital ink pens that ONLY work on the touch screen board.
  • Allows full Internet access through the SMART Board, and can stream videos and play sound. This grabs more attention than the average white board.

  • This is a really good tutorial on using a SMART Board, but it’s 10 minutes long! We suggest you look at it if you want some in detail instructions, but we will give you brief instructions now.

Ways to use a SMART Board

  • Write a paper together with your class, and you can save it unlike writing on a normal white board.
  • Save your notes that you give in class via SMART Board. (So much easier than trying to save notes on a normal white board.)
  • Play interactive games with younger classes on a SMART Board.
  • Show 3D images. Ex: DNA Strand in a science classroom
  • Instead of having to draw figures in a math class (a cube), pull these up on your awesome SMART Board!
