Statement Chair: Prepare for 3D printing!

Let’s make it real!

You are now going to prepare your Chair for 3D printing. You will find the best position to print it and learn about support and raft settings using the Kiri:Moto slicing software.

The steps will walk you through getting your piece ready to print. Remember to use your teammates for support!

Good luck!

1. Zoom in to inspect Raft (first support layer that helps adhesion);

2. Check Move to visualize nozzle movement and make sure it does not produce any problematic nods.

Select Export again and download the “gcode” file.

Go back and experiment with the chosen settings and orientation, then repeat Steps 05-09 to compare Export settings. Once happy with the result, take a screenshot of your Preview and save it for your teacher.

Go to Preview. Use the bottom bar to see nozzle movement and the colors to check print speed (mm/s).

1. Select Export to see the effect of the chosen settings.

2. Take note of time estimate, filament used, printed weight.

You’re done! Save your gcode file and Screenshot. Give it to your Teacher to print the Chair for the final Demo Day!

Use this page as a checklist while you're setting supports and infill. Strong intersections and an enabled raft mean a stable, printable chair. Floating pieces or missing support are the most common reasons a print fails partway through. catch them here in the preview before you export.

These are the problems good settings help you avoid. Infill that's too dense or too loose wastes filament or weakens your chair, and a bed or nozzle at the wrong temperature causes warping and rough layers. If your teacher's print comes out looking like one of these, this page is where you start troubleshooting.

Statement Chair: Prepare for 3D printing!

Great job! You've imported your Chair’s *.gcode file, arranged it on the build plate, and sliced it using Kiri:Moto. You learned about Support and Raft settings to find the fastest print with good quality. Your gcode file and screenshot are ready to hand off to your teacher for printing. Let's make it real!

Congratulations
