Standard Process Brewing Notes

  • Standard all-grain steps for 3 Gal Pale Ale
    • Grind Grain - 4lbs
    • Mash at 150F for 60 min
    • Boil for 60 min
      • 0.4oz Warrior @ 60 min
    • Chill to 175F
      • 0.5oz Citra after boil - 20min after it chills past 175F
    • Chill to 68F
    • Transfer to Fermenter(s)
    • Add Yeast

BIAB Brewing Notes

  • Grind your grain like Conan - Set your gap to 0.030mm
    • Make sure to change it back afterwards
  • Check your mash temperature every so often
    • Get a temperature probe to make life easier
  • Check your mash efficiency - BIAB is usually lower than normal
    • Was targeting 1.058, got 1.050
  • Water Loss
    • This will be less than you think, you’ll want insulated gloves to squeeze the bag as much as possible

    • 1hr mash
    • 1h boil
  • Other things were faster
    • Heating
    • Cooling
  • Overall
    • Faster than larger brew
    • All Grain just takes longer
    • Should be very fast for extract
