WHAT ARE TECHNICAL DRAWINGS?

Technical drawings, or working drawings, are formal, final design drawings that show us not just what we want to make but also how it will be made.�

They include:

📏 Exact dimensions (lengths, widths, cuts, holes).

🧩 How the different design parts fit together.

🎨 Finishes or decorations for the final product.

✅ These are your final design drawings �— clear, accurate, and ready to build from.

ISOMETRIC DRAWINGS

  • A way to draw 3D shapes on flat (2D) paper.
  • Objects are drawn at an angle, tilting towards the front of the page.

📏 Proportions stay accurate — lengths and angles match the real object.�

📝 We will use isometric grid or dot paper to keep the angles correct.

  • Include all pieces in their assembled form.�

Add:

ORTHOGRAPHIC DRAWINGS

  • Orthographic drawings are flat, 2D drawings of a specific side or part of a design.
  • They are used to show dimensions and details accurately.
  • Are often done as projections, showing a straight-on side view of a design.
  • Plan drawings are a type of orthographic drawing.
    • Instead of a side view, they show a flat view of a disassembled part of the design.

DRAWING YOUR DESIGN

  • Create an orthographic drawing of your chosen, final nesting box design disassembled (all pieces).
  • Include: FRONT, TOP and SIDE views of your design.
  • Add:

🎨 Decorations or embellishments.

✨ Features like perches and decorations and how they’ll be done (e.g. paint, drill, wood burning).

📏 Include dimensions for all features.

📌 Refer to example drawings if needed.
