Karen and Nikki Zembroski

Mother and daughter team Karen and Nikki founded Backyard Buzz to produce locally sourced honey. As demand grew and they looked to scale production and expand online sales, they began collaborating with SCORE Bucks County mentor Kathleen Donohue.

“Kathleen is amazing,” Zebrowski said. “She helped us understand the true value and worth of our products.”

Their mentor guided them in recognizing that their honey is an indulgence and a luxury product, helping them price their offerings accordingly and strengthening their overall business strategy.

Laurie Wajda

From a startup perspective, Wajda, of Yardley, knew the kind of work she wanted to do and the audience she wanted to serve, but she wasn’t sure how to get started. She turned to SCORE Bucks County and began working with mentors Linda Zangrilli and Joe Lutes, who provided a very personal, hands-on approach in helping her launch her consulting business, LKW Human Capital Solutions.

Rochelle Berg

While the baking came naturally, the business side of Living Smart Granola was more challenging. She began mentoring with SCORE Bucks County mentor Tim Fielder, who coached her through key aspects of running a business, including establishing the right price point for her products. Fielder also helped her transition from working out of a friend’s restaurant kitchen to upgrading her home kitchen to meet Pennsylvania’s certified food-preparation requirements. His role with Berg now is “primarily one of encouragement.”

Success Story

Full Feedings

Ann Marks

Yardley, PA

When new mom Ann Marks launched Full Feedings, a subscription-based sleep program for parents of infants and toddlers, she turned to SCORE Bucks County for guidance. With mentorship from Leah Cianfrani and Steve Wolfson, Marks developed a formal business plan, implemented financial controls, and set strategic growth goals.

Since engaging with SCORE, Full Feedings has achieved 7% subscription revenue growth and expanded to serve families across the U.S., Europe, Asia, and Australia. The company is now building a virtual support platform for families from birth to age 3, integrating sleep, feeding, mental health, and community resources.

Impact:SCORE mentorship transforms entrepreneurial passion into scalable, sustainable businesses—strengthening local economies and empowering family well-being. Sponsorships make stories like Ann’s possible across Bucks, Montgomery, and Philadelphia Counties.

Direct Economic Impact

  • SCORE mentors hundreds of BucksCounty entrepreneurs and small-business owners each year — helping them start, stabilize, and grow local enterprises.
  • In the past year alone, SCORE Greater Philadelphia (the result of merging 3 SCORE chapters, now serving Bucks, Montgomery and Philadelphia Counties):
    • Provided 8,000+ volunteer mentoring hours
    • Served 3,500+ entrepreneurs across the tri-county region
    • Helped launch 400+ new businesses (self-reported)
    • Facilitated access to $12M+ in capital through business planning, lender introductions, and funding guidance.
  • These businesses create local jobs, expand the tax base, and revitalize commercial corridors throughout the Tri-County area.

No-Cost Resource

  • All mentoring services are completely free, thanks to the dedication of experienced volunteers and limited federal support.
  • SCORE fills a crucial gap for entrepreneurs who can’t afford consultants or paid advisors, leveling the playing field for first-time founders and small business owners.
  • As federal funding becomes less certain, local partnership is critical to sustaining these no-cost programs for Bucks County entrepreneurs.
