ADVANCED Classes 

  • Designed to prepare students for college-level courses such as AP (advanced placement)/Dual Credit

  • Participation is a foundation of college readiness

  • Coursework is created to challenge students beyond on level coursework

  • Participants should be willing and academically prepared to participate; study skills, time management, organization

  • Consider total course load and commitment to other activities,

both school related and extracurricular

  • Students may exit an advanced course with parent approval within the first six weeks of the first semester OR they may exit at the end of the first semester

  • Students and parents/guardians must sign the Advanced Agreement Form before being enrolled in an advanced course. This can be found on the back of your course selection sheet.

Advanced Agreement

IF you are selecting an ADVANCED course, both you and your parent must complete and sign the Junior High Accelerated/Advanced Course Agreement located on the back of the course selection form.

**You may ONLY select Algebra 1 if you are currently in Pre-Algebra OR Math 7/8.**

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

ALL 7th Grade Students MUST participate one of the following

Physical Education Electives!

  • 7th grade Boys PE
  • 7th grade Girls PE
  • Boys Athletics – Football
  • Girls Athletics
  • Cross Country
  • Dance Team
  • OCPE – Off Campus P.E. – application and approval required

Boys Athletics

  • Boys Athletics is for FOOTBALL players ONLY

  • Physical is required

  • IF you want to play basketball, you will select Boys PE as your elective course. IF you make the team, your schedule will be changed to Athletics.

GIRLS ATHLETICS

  • Girls Athletics is for Volleyball, Basketball and Track
  • You must try out for volleyball, basketball and/or track, even if you don’t make the team
  • Physical is required
  • If you do not make a team, you will still be in the

athletic period and will participate in off

season training until the next sport season

CROSS COUNTRY

DANCE TEAM

  • Cross Country is distance running

  • This course is for students who love to RUN – you will run EVERY DAY in Cross Country.

  • Physical required
  • Dance requires an approval/tryout process. Tryouts held in spring.

  • If you do not make the team, then you will be moved to regular PE

  • Required uniform purchase, camp & summer practice, after school practice and year round performances

Choose Electives: You will have 2 elective periods in your schedule next year.

*Physical Education is NOT required in 8th grade IF a student has completed one year in 6th grade AND one year in 7th grade for a total of TWO credits.
