Humanity's relationship with technology
Hello, we are students from the 2nd Gymnasio of Samos, Greece and we will present you our work on positives that technology can offer in our lives, as well as its problematic aspects. In addition, we will refer to real applications of robotics that improve productivity or our daily life in general.
Prologue…
pros of technology
Microsoft AI, digitally preserves the heritage of Ancient Olympia
Disadvantages of technology 1/2
Disadvantages of technology 2/2
Disadvantages of technology - Impact on the environment
Pollution due to technology creation and destruction
Some things about artificial intelligence…
Artificial intelligence is the ability of a machine to reproduce the cognitive functions of a human (learning, planning, creativity). For example, a computer receives data, processes it and responds based on it. Artificial intelligence systems are capable of adapting their behavior and solving problems autonomously.
Consequences in everyday life
1. Online shopping and advertising
Artificial intelligence has an extremely important role to play in the commerce industry. It is mainly used to provide personalized recomme- ndations for example based on previous searches and purchases.
Artificial intelligence also plays an extremely important role in the commerce industry, as it is used for product optimization, inventory planning, logistics.
2. Personal and digital assistants
Smartphones use artificial intelligence to provide optimized and personalized settings to their users. The virtual assistant acts as the user's personal secretary: answers questions, provides recommendations, reminds of meetings. It is also an electronic conversationalist that adapts to the individual characteristics of a particular person, taking into account the user's environment, the range of his interests and his habits.
Microsoft’s Office Assistant, Cortana, Apple’s Siri, Google Assistant, Amazon’s Alexa, Sirius and many more
3. Smart homes, cities, infrastructure
Smart cities rely on intelligent traffic numbering systems to improve connectivity and reduce traffic congestion. In smart homes, thermostats analyze our behavior in order to save energy. In addition , the electronic devices at home are connected to the mobile phone and the internet, so you can give commands from your mobile phone and they will execute them.
4. Artificial intelligence against covid19
In the case of the covid 19 pandemic artificial intelligence was used in thermal imaging devices in airports and elsewhere. in addition it can help monitor the spread of the virus by providing data. In medicine, AI can contribute to the effective diagnosis of the coronavirus through the use of algorithms that study AI scans of the chest.
5. Fighting misinformation
Some artificial intelligence applications can help detect fake news and disinformation in social networks by identifying specific words and phrases as well as reliable sources of information.
6. Self-driving cars
Self-driving cars will Work and keep moving by using lots of sensor data, learning how to handle traffic and making decisions in real time. Also known as autonomous vehicles, these cars use AI technology and machine learning to get around without the passenger having to take control at any time.
Robots 1/2
We believe that robots will be able to do incredible, useful things in the world, without emotions and without the capacity for self-action, that is, without complete autonomy and some desire to act independently. These are such difficult technical problems that they are at least 30 years away.
Robots 2/2
In which sectors will the robots be used the most?
In any field that has boring, “dirty” and dangerous tasks. Heavy lifting, repetitive actions or anything else that involves people working on ladders or cranes. Robots are gradually making the workplace safer through the use of automation. I also appreciate that we can make jobs more enjoyable.
