What is Cyber Safety

  • It aims to reduce the risk of cyber attacks and protect against the unauthorized exploitation of systems, networks, and technologies.
  • Digital security is implemented to protect your network/ security from any malicious digital cyber-attacks. Cyber Safety can be implemented in organizations and in individual systems/ networks. It is usually generated against cyber-attacks that are caused through a publically accessible internet connection, phishing emails, suspicious links, downloadable documents or apps, and more of similar nature.
  • Additionally, Cyber Safety protects the computer/ network from cyber attack’s consequences as well. This is exceptionally helpful when cyber-attacks are generated in such a way that the attack leaves a lasting impression on the organization’s overall functionality.
  • “Information security” is used quite interchangeably with the term “Cyber Safety”. However, it is to be noted that information security is a part of Cyber Safety and not a separate aspect. Information security usually comprises research data or personal data. Cyber Safety is implemented in various organizations to protect data. This protection is known as information security.

What is cyber Security

  • Cyber Security involves the practice of implementing multiple layers of security and protection against digital attacks across computers, devices, systems, and networks. Usually, organizations have a system and a framework in place for how they tackle attempted or successful cyber attacks. A good framework can help detect and identify threats, protect networks and systems, and recover in case any attack was successful.

  • Cyber security is the practice of defending computers and servers, mobile devices, electronic systems, networks and data from malicious attacks.

  • The Government of India has proposed a Cyber Security Policy intending to protect Critical Infrastructure (CI) and information systems through effective implementation of the Cyber Security Framework as per the GCTA Act 2016.

  • Lt Gen (Retd) Rajesh Pant, the national cyber security coordinator, recently said that the National Cyber Security Reference Framework (NCRF) 2023 has been approved and will be placed in public domain.

Need

  • A cyber security policy that details each employee's obligations for safeguarding the organization's systems and data is a useful tool for educating staff members about the significance of security. Cyber security plays a crucial role within the field of the digital world.
  • The importance of cyber security in the digital world is immense. It is because the volume and sophistication of cyber attacks are constantly increasing. As our dependence on technology grows, so does our vulnerability to these attacks. Cyber security helps to protect our data and systems from these threats.
  • Cyber security is critical because it helps to protect organizations and individuals from cyber attacks. Cyber security can help to prevent data breaches, identity theft, and other types of cybercrime. Organizations must have strong cyber security measures to protect their data and customers.

As the world is becoming increasingly connected through the Internet and electronic devices, cyber security has become vitally important for protecting data and systems from malicious actors. With the continued growth of technological advancements, the importance of cyber security is only growing. With the rise of cyber crime and the ever-evolving nature of cyber threats, the need for cyber security professionals is also increasing.
