History of Menkaure
The Pyramid of Menkaure is the third of the major Pyramids of Giza (meaning that is was the last one to be built). Menkaure is the smallest out of the three pyramids, rising to a height of 213 feet (65 meters). It is was built between approximately 2515 and 2532. The pyramid was built during the reign of Pharaoh Menkaure. Menkaure was a Pharaoh of the Fourth Dynasty.
Materials Used
The Building Process (model)
First, I used an X Acto knife to cut out four triangle pieces and a 10 by 10 square out of a cardboard box. Then, I glued the four triangle pieces together (laying them so that all the tips came together at the top) using a hot glue gun. After the hot glue dried and the triangles were sturdy, I hot glued the pyramid formation to the 10 by 10 square base. Next, to give the effect of bricks, I drew staggered blocks onto the triangle pieces using a brown Sharpie. Lastly, I cut a 1 by 3 rectangle from the front side of the pyramid. I filled in the missing chunk with a black sharpie to replicate the missing area of the actual Pyramid of Menkaure.

Why did I choose this topic?
These are a few reasons on why I chose to do my 2022 Gate Challenge on the Pyramid of Menkaure. The first artifacts that caught my eye when I was searching for a topic were the Pyramids of Giza. I have always found them interesting and I really wanted to learn more about them. When I was researching the three pyramids, the Pyramid of Menkaure looked the most interesting. I wanted to learn more about the missing section and why it was there.
