Following each step benefits the Milkhouse and our customers by keeping our processing fees to a minimum, providing a smooth experience for the customer and protecting their card’s security.

Chip Card Payment

Step 1

Enter order and tap “Charge $”

Step 2

Green light appears on the reader

Step 3

Take card from customer and insert into reader, chip first

Chip Card Payment

Step 4

Swivel screen to the left facing the customer, feel it lock

Step 5

Say “It’s going to ask you a couple of question and to sign with your finger”

When you see they have finished signing, remove card and hand back to customer

Step 7

Customer selects an option for receipt

Step 8

Swivel screen back to you the same way you turned it (it does not go in a full circle). Tap the circle to clear the screen.

Gift Card Payments

Step 1

Enter order and tap “Charge $”

Step 2

Take card from customer and swipe, stripe down, in the reader on the stand, then return card to customer

Enter order and tap “Charge $”

Apple Pay and Tap to Pay

Step 4

Swivel screen to the left facing the customer, feel it lock

Say to Customer: “It’s going to ask you a couple of questions and what type of receipt you’d like”

No signature is required

Step 3

Customer holds device over reader until it beeps

Swivel screen back to you the same way you turned it. Tap the check mark to clear the screen

Did you know?

  • Using a chip is much more secure for our customers than swiping their card- learn more by clicking the link:

  • Gift Cards hold a balance and they can be reloaded

  • Credit cards without a chip may be swiped like a gift card – please follow the other steps for processing a chip card.

  • If cards are not swiping or reading, try restarting the I-pad. If the problem continues please contact Jeff. If the problem is because the customer’s card is damaged, card may be entered manually. This results in higher processing fees and should be a last resort.
