Course Overview
The goal of this class is to build upon the skills acquired in Spanish I-III. Spanish IV is an upper-level, ADVANCED Spanish class. Students must use Spanish in the classroom and will partake in a variety of activities including complex grammar study, compositions, oral presentations, cultural explorations, and various readings.
The focus of this course is competency in the four main language skills: speaking, reading, listening, and writing. Classroom activities will include individual, paired, and group activities, simulations, dictations, music, movies, and presentations. We will also study and learn about many Spanish-speaking cultures.

Policies & Procedures
Grading Policy
Your grade will be based on the following categories:
90% Graded Work
Skills assessments on speaking, writing, reading, and listening., projects and presentations
Online work, Worksheets, Completion work
10% Developmental Assessments
Warm Ups
Exit tickets
Absent/Late Work Policy
Late Work – unless you have an extenuating circumstance, work that is not submitted by the end of each week will be considered late and graded as follows:
1 day late - 15%
2 days late - 25%
3 days late - 50%
After 3 days – ZERO
EXPECTATIONS:
Cheating & Plagiarism Policy
Students caught cheating or plagiarizing will face disciplinary action, which may include the following:Entering the incident in the Educators Handbook receiving a zero , parents contact. Students will be given the opportunity to make up assignments or retake assessments as follows:
1st Offense: Student may earn back full credit.
2nd Offense: Student may earn back half credit.
3rd: Offense: Student loses opportunity to earn back credit.
After the second offense, student will face further disciplinary consequences.
PLAGIARISM INCLUDES:Copying all or part of someone’s work and submitting it as your own, using a source (paraphrase or quote) without proper citations.collaborating on an independent assignment, using AI generated content or translators.
Cellphone/ED Policy
Cellphones and any other electronic devices (not including chromebooks) ARE NOT permitted to be used in the classroom.
In case cell phones or ED are utilized during class time, a Personal Technology Violation Notice will be given to the student. This notice requires the involvement of the ISS coordinator.
