The Battle of Gettysburg
During the Civil War, Gettysburg was a big part in turning the tide for the Union (the North) army. The Confederate (or the South) army had been winning the war, so the North really needed to win a battle. On July 1, the Confederates assaulted the quickly formed Union lines. The second day of the battle, Union lines claimed Little Round Top, a small mountain, which was critical because they got the high ground. The third day was Pickett’s Charge, which was a cavalry (soldiers on horses) battle. This was a huge loss for the South, but great for the Union. Gettysburg was a huge part in the Civil War!
The Civil War was a huge part in our history. The effect on our country still lasts today! If the Union hadn’t won our country would still be divided.

During the Civil War our country was divided. The North and South were divided by a state line, called the Mason-Dixon line. This line is Pennsylvania’s south line. The Civil War was a war against slavery. In the South, African-Americans were forced to work without pay. If they did not work hard enough, they were whipped and tortured. The Union was against this. The South was for this. Luckily, the UNION WON!!! If the South did, there would still be slaves down South, and our country would be divided to this day!

Would you like to know about how our home state Pennsylvania originated? Pennsylvania’s political entity began in 1681 by William Penn, when he received a royal charter from King Charles ll. Before 1681, Pennsylvania was settled by Europeans. It was home to many Native American tribes. Most of these tribes were driven away by many deadly diseases such as Smallpox. The first colonists were Swedish and Dutch settlers. In 1667, English settlers colonized it. Now, thanks to WIlliam Penn, our home state Pennsylvania (Meaning Penn’s woods,) is the way it is today!

Pennsylvania is the state where we signed the US Constitution, a contract saying that The United States is a free country. The Preamble says the following:“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.” “The Preamble is important because it tells what the Constitution is about.”I personally think that the Preamble is the most important part of the Constitution.”-Abby Craw.

Sky Zone
Sky Zone is a big trampoline place where there are different sections like a big ball pit. There is also dodgeball and there are basketball nets that you can slam dunk foam balls into. You can also do freestyle jumping. There are even trampolines on the walls you can jump off of!! You can also get food and slushies there!! On freestyle you can do flips. You can also do back flips, but you are not allowed to do double flips. For basketball there are three sizes of hoops. There are pads in between the trampolines and you can’t be on the same trampoline as someone else. My favorite thing to do there is to play dodgeball.

The Capitol Building-HS
This is our Capital. The Capital is located in Harrisburg. The governor lives and works there. On the top of the building, there is a 16 foot tall golden statue. Millions of tourists visit the capital every year. Here’s a fun fact: the top of the building is actually green! If you want to see pictures of our capital, go to the next slide.

Tourist Attractions - FV
One of Pennsylvania’s tourist attractions is Knoebels Groves. Knoebels is a famous amusement park. Knoebels mascot is a chipmunk named Kozmo. You can camp there on the platforms and on different “streets” in the park named for states. Knoebels roller coasters are the Impulse, Flying Turns, Black Diamond, Twister, and the Phoenix. It is amazing! :)

The fastest ride is Skyrush at 75 mph.Skyrush is also the highest ride at 200 ft. Also Hersheypark with some awesome water rides like Coal Cracker,Tidal Force,Bayside Pier,East Coast Waterworks.
