Our code of conduct
Here are my classroom expectations:
To create a classroom environment that enables each student to learn to the best of his/her ability, I will…
1. Come to class prepared, on time and ready to learn.
2. Follow all school rules (food, gum, drink, dress, cell phones, etc.)
3. Demonstrate respect and kindness to others.
4. Only talk when it’s appropriate.
5. Follow directions the first time they are given.
In a few minutes we’re going to go a bit deeper in our understanding of what it looks like to live out classroom expectations.
Code of Conduct- What’s the point?
Question #1- Why do teachers have classroom expectations? Or, why does my behavior in class matter both...
...for me?
...for others?
Code of Conduct- Let’s dig in...
Question #2- What behaviors or attitudes of others prevent me from learning? Be honest and thorough.
Code of Conduct- Let’s dig in...
Question #3- What behaviors or attitudes of mine prevent me from learning? Be honest and thorough.
Code of Conduct- Let’s dig in...
Question #4- What behaviors or attitudes of mine prevent others from learning? Be honest and thorough.
Code of Conduct- Let’s put it together!
Barring any ridiculous responses, the things you just wrote about are the things we’d really like to avoid in order to create a classroom that really works. So, here’s question #5- What should we do in order to create a positive classroom environment that enables students to learn to the best of their ability?
The consequences
Here are the consequences for poor behavior in my classroom:
In the event that classroom expectations are not followed, you can expect…
1. A verbal warning
2. A discussion outside of class
3. A trip down to the office and a Conduct Referral
**Any severe disruption will result in immediate contact with the office.**
I will absolutely enact these consequences and I will also follow school policies when necessary (see your Student Conduct Policy in the Handbook).
