How is GPA Calculated?

You earn 1 credit for every course that you take and pass with a 60% or higher.
If you fail a course you can either:

Retake the course to replace the failed grade.
Complete credit recovery-this will not replace the old grade, but you will earn the credit.

NCAA Qualifications

Student Athletes!

To play college sports MUST register with NCAA.
NCAA determines a student’s eligibility to play sports in college.
NCAA eligibility application must be done online and costs $90 (fee waivers available if you qualify for an SAT or ACT fee waiver).
Eligibility application should be completed in 11th grade.�Link to NCAA is HERE.

What About World Language Courses?

Facts

Having a world language on your transcript is not required for college admission, but highly recommended!
Most undergraduate degree programs include world languages in their course sequences

CCHS offers 2 world language options, Spanish and Chinese
Having basic exposure or being bilingual is a great addition to resume and a helpful skill to have
The 3rd and 4th levels of world language are honors level and come with a diploma endorsement

Tests

The SAT and the ACT are nationally standardized tests used by 4-year colleges and universities to aid in determining college admission.
Students can register to take the SAT or ACT at any time but it is our recommendation that you register after taking or currently taking Math III.
The SAT is composed of sections; Reading, Writing and language, Math and Essay. Scores range from 400-1600
The ACT is composed of sections; English, Math Reading and Science. It also has an optional Essay. Scores range from 1-36

Fee Waivers

Fee waivers allow students to register for the SAT and ACT exams without paying a fee.
Eligible students can receive two SAT fee waivers and two ACT fee waivers.
Additionally, students can receive fee waivers for college applications.
Students are usually eligible for fee waivers by showing they receive free or reduced lunch.
Students wanting a fee waiver should see their counselor.
