Astronomy

  • Description:
    • In astronomy, we explore the universe starting with the stars you see in the night sky all the way to black holes and the possibility of alien life. We are engaged in hands-on investigations using real telescopes and data that students collect to help us explore and understand the universe in which we live. Students participate in REAL original research on pulsars, exoplanets, and other objects in the universe. There are also two field trips offered during the year. The emphasis is on inquiry and exploration rather than lecture and worksheets!
  • Who?
    • Any student who wishes to have their mind dazzled and their childhood curiosity about the stars quenched!
    • Students interested in careers in physics, aerospace, engineering, space exploration, computer programming, and many other fields
  • Why?
    • Field Trips!
    • It’s AWESOME!
    • Cool hands on science!
