UBC Achieve/Canvas Integration

Student Instructions

This course is integrating your digital courseware (Achieve) with Canvas. In order to access your course materials properly, please follow the below steps

​

• You MUST purchase your course materials either directly through Canvas or through the UBC Bookstore. This is the only way to verify your purchase and allow you to access the materials through Canvas.
• Keep your Receipt as this has your Order Receipt Number that you may need to access Achieve.
• Please note that you MUST complete your Achieve assignments by accessing Achieve through Canvas. This is the only way that your grades will sync to Canvas.

Student Instructions

• Login to your Canvas Course using your student login credentials
• Under “Modules” click on the Achieve link
• Read the request for permission and choose to anonymize your personal information or not. Your email will always be anonymized (a random series of letters/numbers@willolabs.com). If you choose to anonymize your name it will also be displayed as a random series of letters/numbers. Be aware that this will make it more cumbersome for your instructor to find you in the system.
• Your decision to anonymize or not, cannot be changed later.

• Start your free 2-week trial
• Purchase access to the course materials
• Verify your purchase (if you have already purchased materials from the UBC Bookstore)

Student Instructions

When you purchase materials from the UBC Bookstore and access Achieve through Canvas, you may see the below screen which indicates that your purchase has been verified. If you see this screen, you are in the paid version of the course materials.

If you don’t see the Purchase verified screen, you will need to enter in your Order receipt number. This is found on your bookstore receipt

Tech support tips

STEP 1: SELF-TROUBLESHOOT

• Use Chrome or Firefox
• Allow pop-ups on your browser
• Clear browsing history (cache/cookies)
• Use a desktop or laptop computer
• Reliable internet connection. Are others sharing bandwidth (streaming movies)?

STEP 2: CONTACT CUSTOMER SUPPORT

• UBC LT Hub for issues related to Canvas
• Macmillan Tech Support for issues related to Achieve

STEP 3: EMAIL YOUR INSTRUCTOR

• If AFTER you contact tech support the issue is not resolved, please email your instructor. When doing so, you MUST provide the CASE NUMBER from your phone call or email with tech support.

• Achieve is a full online course to help you succeed in this class.
• Achieve includes the e-book for you to read, homework and quizzes for you to complete, and multimedia assets to help you learn more.
• Achieve comes with a full gradebook for you (and your instructors) to track your progress.

If you open the ebook (from an assignment or from the left navigation), you can add notes and highlights, and use the navigation at the left or bottom to move through the book.

Download e-book offline for 48 months to your computer

• Click on your name in the top right hand corner
• Click Read e-book on Vitalsource bookshelf
• You will be prompted to create a Vitalsource account
• Click the gear icon on the bottom left and click read offline with the bookshelf desktop app

Download e-book offline for 48 months to your mobile device

• You can also download the e-book to a mobile device. *Please note you must first have followed the steps to create a Vitalsource account*
• Search for “Macmillan Learning e-book” in the app store on your mobile device
• Sign in using your Vitalsource credentials and tap on the picture of the textbook to download it
