When to say NO??

وفي السنة الثالثة نزل يهوشافاط ملك يهوذا الى ملك اسرائيل. فقال ملك اسرائيل لعبيده اتعلمون ان راموت جلعاد لنا ونحن ساكتون عن اخذها من يد ملك ارام. وقال ليهوشافاط اتذهب معي للحرب الى راموت جلعاد فقال يهوشافاط لملك اسرائيل مثلي مثلك شعبي كشعبك وخيلي كخيلك. ثم قال يهوشافاط لملك اسرائيل اسال اليوم عن كلام الرب. (1مل 22 : 2 – 5)

Then it came to pass, in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went down to visit the king of Israel. And the king of Israel said to his servants, "Do you know that Ramoth in Gilead is ours, but we hesitate to take it out of the hand of the king of Syria?". So he said to Jehoshaphat, "Will you go with me to fight at Ramoth Gilead?“ Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, "I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses". Also Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, "Please inquire for the word of the LORD today"(1Ki22:2-5)

وكان ليهوشافاط غنى و كرامة بكثرة و صاهر اخاب. (2اخبار 18 : 1)

Jehoshaphat had riches and honor in abundance; and by marriage he allied himself with Ahab. (2Ch 18 : 1)

طيبة أم سذاجة؟؟؟

Being nice or naive???

ما منفعة يهوشافاط؟!!

What would Jehoshaphat benefit?!!

و الان هوذا قد جعل الرب روح كذب في افواه جميع انبيائك هؤلاء و الرب تكلم عليك بشر. فتقدم صدقيا بن كنعنة و ضرب ميخا على الفك و قال من اين عبر روح الرب مني ليكلمك. فقال ميخا انك سترى في ذلك اليوم الذي تدخل فيه من مخدع الى مخدع لتختبئ.

"Therefore look! The LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these prophets of yours, and the LORD has declared disaster against you". Now Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said, "Which way did the spirit from the LORD go from me to speak to you?". And Micaiah said, "Indeed, you shall see on that day when you go into an inner chamber to hide!".

فقال ملك اسرائيل خذ ميخا و رده الى امون رئيس المدينة و الى يواش ابن الملك. و قل هكذا قال الملك ضعوا هذا في السجن و اطعموه خبز الضيق و ماء الضيق حتى اتي بسلام.

(1مل 22 : 23 – 27)

So the king of Israel said, "Take Micaiah, and return him to Amon the governor of the city and to Joash the king's son;. "and say, 'Thus says the king: "Put this fellow in prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and water of affliction, until I come in peace" ' ".

(1 Ki 22 : 23 – 27)

لماذا لم يتراجع يهوشافاط؟!

Why didn't Jehoshaphat withdraw?!

فصعد ملك اسرائيل و يهوشافاط ملك يهوذا الى راموت جلعاد. فقال ملك اسرائيل ليهوشافاط اني اتنكر و ادخل الحرب و اما انت فالبس ثيابك فتنكر ملك اسرائيل و دخل الحرب. (1مل 22 : 29 – 30)

So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth Gilead. And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "I will disguise myself and go into battle; but you put on your robes" So the king of Israel disguised himself and went into battle.

هل تعلم الدرس؟؟

Did he learn his lesson??

وعمل يهوشافاط سفن ترشيش لكي تذهب الى اوفير لاجل الذهب فلم تذهب لان السفن تكسرت في عصيون جابر. حينئذ قال اخزيا بن اخاب ليهوشافاط ليذهب عبيدي مع عبيدك في السفن فلم يشا يهوشافاط.

(1مل 22 : 48 – 49)

Jehoshaphat made merchant ships to go to Ophir for gold; but they never sailed, for the ships were wrecked at Ezion Geber. Then Ahaziah the son of Ahab said to Jehoshaphat, "Let my servants go with your servants in the ships" But Jehoshaphat would not. (1 Ki 22 : 48 – 49)

هل قدر أن يرفض طلب أخزيا لانه صغير؟؟

Was he able to reject Ahaziah’s request

because he was young??

و ذهب و ارسل الى يوشافاط ملك يهوذا يقول قد عصى علي ملك مواب فهل تذهب معي الى مواب للحرب فقال اصعد مثلي مثلك شعبي كشعبك و خيلي كخيلك. فقال من اي طريق نصعد فقال من طريق برية ادوم.

Then he went and sent to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, saying, "The king of Moab has rebelled against me. Will you go with me to fight against Moab?" And he said, "I will go up; I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses". Then he said, "Which way shall we go up?" And he answered, "By way of the Wilderness of Edom".

فذهب ملك اسرائيل و ملك يهوذا و ملك ادوم و داروا مسيرة سبعة ايام و لم يكن ماء للجيش و البهائم التي تبعتهم. فقال ملك اسرائيل اه على ان الرب قد دعا هؤلاء الثلاثة الملوك ليدفعهم الى يد مواب.

(2مل 3 : 7 – 10)

So the king of Israel went with the king of Judah and the king of Edom, and they marched on that roundabout route seven days; and there was no water for the army, nor for the animals that followed them. And the king of Israel said, "Alas! For the LORD has called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab".

(2Ki 3 : 7 – 10)

هل تتكرر المأساة؟!

Would this tragedy be repeated?!

فقال يهوشافاط اليس هنا نبي للرب فنسال الرب به فاجاب واحد من عبيد ملك اسرائيل و قال هنا اليشع بن شافاط الذي كان يصب ماء على يدي ايليا. فقال يهوشافاط عنده كلام الرب فنزل اليه ملك اسرائيل و يهوشافاط و ملك ادوم. ال اليشع لملك اسرائيل

But Jehoshaphat said, "[Is there] no prophet of the LORD here, that we may inquire of the LORD by him?" So one of the servants of the king of Israel answered and said, "Elisha the son of Shaphat [is] here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah". And Jehoshaphat said, "The word of the LORD is with him" So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him. Then Elisha said to the king of Israel,

لماذا لم يسأل الله من البداية؟!!

Why didn’t he ask God from the start?!!

فقما لي و لك اذهب الى انبياء ابيك و الى انبياء امك فقال له ملك اسرائيل كلا لان الرب قد دعا هؤلاء الثلاثة الملوك ليدفعهم الى يد مواب. فقال اليشع حي هو رب الجنود الذي انا واقف امامه انه لولا اني رافع وجه يهوشافاط ملك يهوذا لما كنت انظر اليك و لا اراك. (2مل 3 : 11 – 14)

"What have I to do with you? Go to the prophets of your father and the prophets of your mother" But the king of Israel said to him, "No, for the LORD has called these three kings [together] to deliver them into the hand of Moab". And Elisha said, "[As] the LORD of hosts lives, before whom I stand, surely were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, I would not look at you, nor see you. (2Ki 3 : 11 – 14)

قال لهم سمعان بطرس انا اذهب لاتصيد قالوا له نذهب نحن ايضا معك فخرجوا و دخلوا السفينة للوقت و في تلك الليلة لم يمسكوا شيئا

(يو 21 : 3)

How to say NO??!

بإعتذار وتفسير

With apology and clarification

بمواجهة هادئة ووضوح

With peaceful confrontation and clearness

بعد فترة تفكير وصلاة

After giving yourself some time to think and pray

قد تكون مصحوبة بتعويضات أو بدائل

It might be accompanied

by compensations or alternatives

كيف تقول لا؟؟!

How to say NO??!

أن تخسر الناس ... بل أن تخسر نفسك

of loosing people …

but be scared of loosing yourself

لا تخف

Do not be scared

ان الناس تتركك ... بل خف أن الله يتركك

That people would leave you …

but be scared that God would leave you

لا تخف

Do not be scared

أن يُقال عليك عنيد أو مُتزمت ...

بل خف أن يُقال عليك ليس له رأي أو شخصية

That people would say you are stubborn or headstrong …

but be scared that people would say

that you don’t have an opinion (a belief) or a personality

من الشعور بالذنب الوهمي بل خف من فقدان النعمة

Of the feeling of false guilt …

but be scared of loosing the grace
