Translating Wikipedia Articles from any language to Igbo language

Open your chrome browser

Step 1: Type in this link on your browser page

Step 3: Click on the three vertical dots by the top right corner of your phone.

Step 4: A drop down menu will appear. Scroll and select Desktop view.

You can choose any option you like. For me, I like choosing WikiData

By the far left corner, under the section of In other projects, select Wikipedia

Click on Beta Features. Scroll down to content translation and enable by ticking the box. Click save and return.

Go to ‘+ New Translation’ and click

Ensure you change your language to Igbo.

You can only translate when an article is written as "Missing In Igbo"

If you have any name in mind and you want to translate it, search it using the New translation button and it will show you missing in Igbo. Then you go ahead to Start translation.

How to start translation

1. Click paragraph by paragraph, heading by heading and it will automatically be translated to Igbo.

2. Edit the translations in readable and comprehensive Igbo rather than leaving it in the machine translation.

NB: It won't publish if it tells you that your text contain 100% unmodified text. This means you must edit it.

Ensure you modify (edit) the article to at least 30% to 90%. Just know that it can't be published when it is 100% unmodified.

When you are done editing, click on Mark as resolved

For the Reference, when you click on the Igbo translation column, the machine will automatically translate it to Ntuaka. Edit it to Edensibia.

NB: Don't click by the side of the reference because it won't show. It can only show when it is already published.

Click on Biputa to publish
