CELL PHONE POLICY

All cell phones must be in the front pocket of the student’s backpack and off

  • Student may not have them in a purse
  • Students may not have them in their pockets
  • SMART Watches must be turned off and put up

Absences

Late Work Policy

When students are absent it is their responsibility to check Google Classroom for missed work. It’s the student’s responsibility to see the teacher by the next class period regarding missed assignments.

Middle school students will receive the following credit for late assignments:

  • 1 class period late a student can receive up to 80% credit for late assignments.
  • 2 class periods late a student can receive up to 60% credit for late assignments.
  • 3 class periods or greater late a student will receive 0% credit for late assignments.

If a student missed a test during an absence, he/she will have two class periods to make it up or make other arrangements. If not made up in the given time period, the student will receive a zero.

Homework checked in class will NOT be accepted late.

Chromebook and Technology Usage

  • Middle school students are responsible for bringing their fully charged district issued Chromebook to school everyday.

  • If a middle school student comes to school without their Chromebook, the student will report to the library before 8:30 to check out a loaner Chromebook for the day and will receive a minor behavior infraction for not bringing their Chromebook to school.

  • If a middle school student comes to school with an uncharged Chromebook, the student will be allowed to charge their Chromebook in class and will receive a minor-behavior infraction for not having their Chromebook charged.

  • Students will receive after-school detention once they receive 5 minor-behavior infractions.

Failure to follow expectations will result in a loss of privilege.

Chromebook Repair Costs

Students are responsible for taking care of their district issued Chromebook/tablet and charger. If a student is found to be negligent and caused damage or lost their device the following charges can be levied to the child’s parents through JCampus.

Food and Drinks

  • Water bottles are allowed in the classrooms
  • No soda (i.e. Sprite) or sport drinks (i.e. Gatorade) are allowed on campus or in water bottles

Accelerated Reader

Summer Reading

  • Reading is critical for success in all subjects.
  • Students will be expected to have a personal book with them at all times
  • Books can be checked out from Mayfair’s library or EBRPL’s library system.
  • Accelerated Reader is a 100-pt test grade.
  • Summer Reading information can be found here

Currently we offer the following sports:

(Some teams may not be offered if there is not enough student interest)

  • We do not currently have EBR paperwork. We will send it home once we receive it.
  • Start NOW getting your child’s physical done by a physician for the year.
  • Physicals are valid for 13 months.
  • Don’t forget, you must attach a copy of your students’ medical insurance card to their paperwork.

Paperwork can be turned in to Coach Sims.
