Step 1: On a number line, plot the fraction.

Step 2: Start at 0, and move to the fraction. Keep moving the same distance a number of times equal to the whole number.

Example: The whole number is 3, so move 3 times.

Step 3: Use the number line to determine the product (the answer.)

Step 1: Draw a number line and plot the 1st fraction.

Step 2: Divide the number line between 0 and the 1st fraction into a number of sections equal to the denominator of the 2nd fraction.

Example: The denominator is 4, so divide into 4 sections.

Step 3: Start at 0. Move a number of sections equal to the numerator of the 2nd fraction.

Example: The numerator is 3, so move 3 sections.

Step 4: Use the number line to determine the product.
