  • Attend ‘several’ 43rd LD Delegate Meetings
    • Draft TWO Resolutions (Due May 4)
    • Draft amendments to the Platform and Rules of Convention (Due June 7)

  • Attend the Washington State Democratic Convention
  • Adopt State platform and State Party resolutions
  • Network with other convention delegates and get organized
  • Get fired up to win the 2024 elections
  • Bring that enthusiasm and energy back to your district

State Delegate Elections

Requirements for State Delegates:

  • Must reside in the 43rd Legislative District
  • Must identify as a Democrat
  • Must register virtually by March 31 @ 5pm

State Delegates are:

  • Elected by members of their Legislative District organization
  • Apportioned to presidential candidates

How to Run

  • Pre-register at WADemsDelegates.org to be notified when candidate filing opens

  • When filing opens, submit your candidate information for the Online Voters Guide

  • Attend candidate forums in
    • Your legislative district (state)
    • Congressional district (national) and/or
    • the meeting at which elections are held (national and elector)

  • Your contact information (email and phone)

  • Your mailing address

  • Your legislative district and congressional district

  • Which election (or elections) you’re filing to run in

  • A headshot photo

  • A short “voter’s guide” biographical statement
    • Tell your story!
    • Include relevant biographical information, experience (as a party leader, activist, community organizer, etc.)
  • Your presidential candidate preference

  • Your demographic information
    • Especially if it’s relevant to affirmative action goals

  • Any links to your social media that you’d like to share

  • Presidential campaign right of review
    • Presidential campaigns have the right to review all national candidates who pledge to represent them, and may reject a candidate for any reason
    • …but they must leave at least two candidates per seat

  • National delegates are responsible for all costs associated with attending the National Convention

National Delegation goals also include weight for presence in the Democratic electorate.

The goals and the datasets used to determine them were proposed and approved by the Washington State Democratic Party’s Affirmative Action Committee
