What is TVM?
What is the Teacher Verification Model (TVM), and where can I learn more?
The Teacher Verification Model (TVM) is a new distance learning option for Minnesota ABE teachers and programs to count proxy hours for asynchronous lessons that have been verified by a TVM certified teacher.
To be certified to use TVM, individuals must complete modules 1-6 of the new Distance and Blended Learning Basics for Minnesota Adult Education online course, OR the old online DL Basics course, plus modules 5 (MN ABE Distance Education Policy and Procedures) and 6 (TVM in Practice) in the new online course. They must also participate in an individual TVM coaching call or attend a TVM Certification Webinar.
The Units
10 planned units:
Video - Introducing vocabulary | Paper-Vocabulary matching activity | Paper & Video-Simple story using the vocabulary | Paper & Video- Yes/No questions about the story | Paper- Writing practice | Paper & Video- CASAS test practice of the vocabulary | Paper & Video- Life skills application of vocabulary (varies by topic) |
Layout
5 lessons in each unit
6-8 vocabulary words per lesson
7 components:
Lessons are meant to build knowledge based on previous lessons
Work unit:
Lesson 1 - Jobs 1 (6 job vocabulary)
Lesson 2 - Jobs 2 (6 more job vocabulary)
Lesson 3 - Work places 1 (workplaces for Jobs 1)
Lesson 4 - Work places 2 (workplaces for Jobs 2)
Lesson 5 - Work schedule (uses vocab from Lessons 1-4)
