Livermore High School’s mission is to provide a well-rounded, rigorous curriculum in a safe and supportive learning environment that promotes the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional growth of all students. 

��Livermore High School's vision is to foster the academic, social, emotional, and physical growth of every student. All students acknowledge their own and others’ unique qualities, act with dignity and integrity, and graduate ready for college and/or a career.

Goals: The LHS faculty, staff, students, and parents/ guardians will work together to make the vision a reality through the accomplishment of the following 3 overarching goals:

Semester System

LVJUSD operates on a semester system:

​

• The school year is divided into two 18-week semesters.

​

• All semester courses earn 5 credits unless noted otherwise.

​

• With 220 credits needed for graduation, students should take at least 60 credits per year, which is 30 credits per semester (6 courses per semester).

CAP

What is CAP for?

CAP (Cowboy Access Period) is a required period for 30 minutes on Wednesdays and 55 minutes on Thursdays for student support and intervention. On every other Wednesday, students will engage in PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports)/SEL (Social Emotional Learning) curriculum for part of the 30 minutes.

• Retake a test
• Get together with partners for a group project
• Make an appointment with your counselor
• Tutoring with teachers�

Schoology Learning Management System

Logging in will provide access to information students and parents/guardians will need, including:

Parents/Guardians can make a Schoology account by using an access code that will be emailed to you by early September (parents/guardians can track student’s assignments and grades)

Honors Courses: for students who are interested in a more rigorous course of study and who plan on taking Advanced Placement (AP) courses in future years.

• With completion of an AP course and exam, students can earn college credit, earn advanced placement, and be more competitive in the admission process.

• Pathways involve multi-year course sequences that integrate core academic knowledge with technical/occupational knowledge to provide pathways to post-secondary education and careers. We have 26 pathways.�

Tri-Valley Regional Occupational Program (ROP)

​

• Program to explore careers and/or college majors  and develop job skills.

​

• Open to seniors, juniors, sophomores, some courses for frosh. Juniors and seniors have priority in enrolling in ROP courses.

​

• Some classes are at other high school sites in the Tri-Valley.

​

​

Middle College

​

• A junior and senior program that provides dual enrollment in both high school and college courses (Las Positas)

​

• Operated by the Tri-Valley Regional Occupational Program (ROP)

• For students in Livermore, Pleasanton, and Dublin

Green Engineering Academy

​

• The GEA is a 4-year California Partnership Academy with a focus on engineering.

• Students take courses in a cohort within LHS.

​

• Students apply while in 8^th grade for admittance in 9^th grade.

• The goal of the Wellness Center is to provide a physical space for the establishment of mental health supports and the culture needed for all students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

• We highly recommend that freshmen join a club and/or participate in a sport.

Students are encouraged to start their own club if they want to share their interests with other students.

To attend any of our school functions, a student must be in good standing Standing

The definition of “good standing” is:

Academic

• No F grades on the semester report card prior to the dance/event or at the time of ticket purchase.�

Attendance

• No more than 5 unexcused class periods in the current semester�
• No more than 10 unexcused tardies in the semester when ticket sales begin�
• No more than 2 unexcused tardies during the week of the event�

Citizenship

• No suspensions

​

• No more than 2 School Expectations Violations�
• No more than 1 Level 1 Behavior Violation as described in the Secondary School Discipline Policy (See Secondary School Discipline Policy)

​

Cell Phone Use

Students may use cell phones before and after school, during passing periods, lunch breaks, or when explicitly permitted during class time by the teacher for academic purposes.

​

Cell phone use during regular class time should be avoided to ensure an optimal learning environment. During class cell phones must be silenced or turned off and put away.

​

Cell phone cameras and other devices are not to be used to photograph, videotape, or record students or staff at school or school sponsored activities without the prior consent of parents/guardians and approval of school staff.
