Major Milestone (Major MS) = A distinct reference point that marks the realisation of a major step towards completing an activity; may mark the achievement of a series of minor milestones/ tasks used to track the project's progress
Activity = A piece of work, which represents a key part of a work package; made up of a collection of related milestones and tasks
Work package = A collection of related activities, so all activities under that work package are related
Minor milestone = When it is difficult to keep track of all the tasks associated with a major milestone, minor milestones can be used to provide additional, finer-scale level of control

Project = A collection of related work packages linked together by a shared strategy and implemented over a specified timeframe and with a specified budget
