Proposed Casino Beach Master Plan Process

Informal Report – City Council (February 15, 2022)

    • Protect and enhance Lake Worth’s water quality, natural beauty, and recreational character.
    • Create Lake Worth Regional park, a linear park that encompasses the lake and provides high-quality recreational amenities and cultural hubs.
    • Staff will explore the opportunity to partner with private operators to establish recreational facilities.

  • Activate the site to enhance current conditions and provide unique, revenue-generating recreational activities.
  • Provide an open planning process that encourages both public and developer-driven ideas and innovation.
  • Invite privately-operated recreational opportunities on both park and non-park properties.
  • Develop the site in an environmentally sensitive manner.

  • Meet with the Council District 7 office and the City Manager’s Office to confirm that the previously outlined project goals are still valid.
  • Host a series of public meetings with the surrounding community, including neighborhood associations, to share the planning concept of issuing an RFP and to gather feedback and development ideas.
  • Issue an RFP that outlines the project goals.

  • Formalize a Master Plan based on feedback from the RFP and community input.

  • Steward the health and security of the regional water supply while supporting citywide flood control. (Water Security)
  • Conserve 10,000 acres of greenspace across Fort Worth in the next five years, while growing and enhancing the City’s park system (Conservation and Park & Recreation)

City Code - Chapter 36

Establishes rules and regulations for the City’s Open Space properties:

  • Hours of operation from sunrise to sunset, unless otherwise posted. These areas will not include lighting.
  • Prohibiting littering, camping, fires, fireworks, swimming and alcoholic beverages – these will be pack-in, pack-out areas. We do not anticipate having trash receptacles and restroom service at this time.
  • Limiting vehicles, including bicycles, to designated areas.
  • Prohibiting harm to vegetation and wildlife. This includes staying on designated trails and not walking over sensitive vegetation like prairie grasses.
