An insider’s view of self-driving cars

Drivers are deeply important to ride sharing companies, want happy drivers!

  • Employees are usually quite different than drivers
  • Lots of employees drove to better empathize

At the same time, Uber / Lyft actively working to replace them (autonomous cars)

Personal guess: in the end, you’ll have self-driving for most of the rides, part time drivers to fill in gaps. Based on conversations with drivers, reasons to drive:

  • Saving for vacation, stress relief, recovering from an injury, social experience, etc.
