Where are we now

  • Following the July 2021 and August 2022 storms over 5,600 faults were identified across the region. Subsequent storms have increased this to over 5,800 faults being managed by MRRT.
  • Of these 5,800+ faults, less than 10% are left to be completed.
  • Just over 550 sites remain in the Kenepuru area, where nearly a third of all damage was located.
  • There also remains sites in Awatere, Waihopai, Northbank, French Pass, Queen Charlotte Drive and Port Underwood.
  • All current recovery sites are programmed to be completed by end of 2027.
  • Recovery programme is tracking around 30% below budget. So far we have been able to surplus $45.2M
