Screencastify is a FREE screen recording extension that you can add to your Chrome browser. Along with recording your screen, you can record your audio and embed your webcam. Videos can be up to 5 minutes and automatically save to your Google Drive!

OFFLINE ACCESS IN GOOGLE DRIVE

We know not all students have internet access at home, offline access in Google Drive makes it easy to provide video resources, as well as other Google items to all students.

If you aren't connected to a Wi-Fi or mobile network, you can still view and edit files, including:

  • Nearpod has free and paid options.
  • Can be embedded in Canvas (directly through Canvas) or Google Classroom (with a link on Nearpod)
  • Can create your own lessons, find some free ones, or purchase lessons.

Nearpod is an interactive digital lesson tool with features that allow you create teacher-led (in-class) or self-paced lessons (great for eLearning) where you can embed a number of activities as well as your PowerPoints or Google Slides and videos. It’s a great way to provide direct instruction and checks for understanding, even if you’re not with your students.

Quizizz is a student-paced formative assessment tool. Create your own sets of questions or use questions that other teachers have created. This is a great tool to check for understanding at a distance, and it can be turned into a gamified activity with no extra work!

EdPuzzle allows you to turn videos into interactive lessons. Record a screencast or select a video from YouTube. Clip the video, add narration, and embed questions. The free version allows for 20 videos and allows you to import classes from Google Classroom.

Google Hangout Meet Livestream

  • Video presentation using Hangout Meet, but it locks access to your school domain only.
  • Allows for captions, recording, and presentation of any content on the computer - including from your webcam.
