• Is God really interested in me? Is God cold, distant, uncaring, and aloof, as he really appears to me to be, or does he actually care, and if he does why doesn’t he do something now about evil in the world, and especially my pain/despair?

​

• Am I the exception? Why does my pastor and everyone else in church apparently assume that we all “get it”, and have it all under control. Are others just better able to hide their pain and unbelief than I am?

​

• Is God really my Enemy? How can I worship a God who I am told actually gave me this monstrous cancer or refuses to rescue me from this horrid depression?

​

• What’s the catch? How come almost nobody I know really lives a life of rest, peace, and joy as is promised in the Scriptures? Where is the power in this life that I see in the Scriptures?

• What am I missing? Why is faith seem to be such an impossible mystery? Why do I never seem to progress in any of this? Why is everything so hard?

• Wrong thinking = Wrong solutions. If we are not thinking correctly about these questions we will make incorrect assessments. If we make incorrect assessments, we will develop incorrect solutions. Therefor, our assessment of the problem must be correct to develop a solution to the problem that will work.

​

• Have I believed lies? What if our struggles – e.g., fear, anxiety, and despair, are based on assessments which are actually LIES about who we really are and who God really is, or what He is really like?

​

• Is God an underachiever? What if the lies we are accepting are based on a severe under-estimation of what God has accomplished in sending Christ? What if these lies also subtly slander the character of God Himself? Satan, after all, is “the deceiver”.

• Do I lack truth? If the struggles in my Christian walk, the difficult state of my faith or my spiritual or physical condition, is based on my accepting lies, then wouldn’t the truth set me free just as Jesus promised?

​

• Where is truth found? There are two sources for our thought assessments about life’s circumstances – God or Satan, the fleshly/carnal mind or the mind of the Spirit. Everything not of faith, including our thoughts, is sin (Rom. 14:23) The mind of the Spirit is the mind of Christ. And, praise God now “we have the mind of Christ” (1 Cor. 2:16; Ph. 2:5) …”in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” (Col. 2:3)

WHAT IS YOUR AUTHORITY FOR LIFE’S QUESTIONS?

The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.(Is. 40:8)

• Who’s Calling the Shots? The answers to life questions that we choose to believe are dictated by what we choose to be our authority in life.

​

• Ten Lepers Example. To see His Promises fulfilled, and to ensure we do not miss out on the Lord’s will for us, we are to “trust the Lord with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding.” Prov. 3:5-6 And that means trusting His Word as supreme even in the face of all contrary evidence, for this is the secret of mountain-moving faith. (Rom. 4:18-25). See the example of the ten lepers in Luke 17:11-19.

​

• Me as God. See a Problem? Somewhat surprisingly, many people are unaware that they generally give precedence to their rationalistic assumptions from their life experiences over what God says. We usually see this as ‘just being practical’ about life. But perhaps this isn’t really ‘practical’ at all, because it effectually makes us God, as we become our own final authority on all matters. My being my own God is really quite impractical.

​

• Is God the Problem, or Me? Based on our evaluation of our experiences, we conclude that the problem is with God and not us, and as a result discredit His Word and slander Him.

​

• To repeat: Where is Truth Found? We need to be thoroughly diligent in exalting the Word of God over the fleshly and rationalistic tendencies of our own mind, because here is the shocker: truth is not found in my mind. It is found in the Word of God.

​

• Think Like a Warrior. To think truthfully is to think scripturally, and to think scripturally is to think supernaturally, and to think supernaturally is to put oneself on a war footing (1 Cor. 4:16; Col. 3:1-3) because war is the order of business in the supernatural realm at this point in time.

THE WARFARE WORLD VIEW*

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. (Eph. 6:12)

• Non-God Free-will Agents are the Problem. The warfare worldview is based on the conviction that our world is engaged in a cosmic war between a myriad of free-will agents, both human and angelic, that have aligned themselves with either God or Satan.

​

• Warfare is Biblical. This worldview best reflects the response to evil depicted throughout the Bible.

​

• Passive and Confused vs Fighting Back with Clarity. Instead of resigning ourselves to our circumstances when we encounter evil, as most post-modern Western Christianity teaches, the warfare worldview encourages Christians to revolt against evil as evidence of Satan’s activity, rather than God’s mysterious will.

​

• Who’s Fault? Satan, fallen angels, and sinful people have wills of their own, and they are responsible for everything that happens which is not consistent with the character of God as revealed in Jesus Christ.

ACCORDING TO JESUS, EVANGELISM IS WARFARE: THE SUPPLANTING OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD FOR THE DOMAIN OF DARKNESS

I give you authority over snakes and scorpions and over all the power of the Enemy, and nothing shall in any way harm you. (Lke 10:19)

• Jesus Declares War. Jesus summoned His twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every kind of disease and every kind of sickness… Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give. (Mat. 10:1-2, 7-8)

​

• The Kingdom of God Consists not of Empty Talk, But Power. Destroying the Enemy and diminishing his kingdom is the result of evangelism, yet we are led to believe today that the Lord expects every believer to evangelize successfully without demonstrating the power of God.  However, Jesus Himself was sent by the Father to evangelize using miraculous signs of healing/deliverance as validation (See Jhn 14:11), and He then sent out the 12 and the 70 to evangelize and equipped them with the same authority to heal and deliver (Luke 9:1 and Luke 10:17-19).

​

• Are We Better Evangelists Than Jesus? As He was sent, He said He also sent us (Jhn 20:21). Why should the Lord expect us to do without miraculous gifts after 397 AD (the date of completion of the canon) what only Jesus and the disciples could do with miraculous gifts before then?

​

• The Evangelistic Message is the Same as Ever. Don't people today all over the World still need to know that Jesus is the sent one from God, as they did 2000 years ago? Paul says 3 times that there is no partiality with God. Why are we who were born after 397 AD treated as second class citizens?

THE ENEMY OF GOD HAS A VERY SOPHISTICATED WARFARE STRATEGY FOR THE DESTRUCTION OF YOUR LIFE

O Lord, Let them be turned back and dishonored who devise evil against me. (Ps. 35:4)

• Who is the Ruler of this World? The Word of God is quite clear about this. Jesus called Satan “the Ruler of this World”. (Jhn 14:29.) Jesus said that the Enemy comes “to steal, kill, and destroy.” (Jhn 10:10) As the Ruler of this World, he has a plan for your life, an extremely sophisticated plan for your destruction.

​

• The Western Church is AWOL. The Western Church needs to wake up and smell the coffee. Unfortunately, we are still asleep, and therefore completely vulnerable. The Church is generally AWOL when it comes to fighting our King’s battles, and defending our homes, marriages, and children. It is a terrible tragedy which continues unabated as the sheep go to the slaughter.

​

• The Whole World Lies in His Power. We are to be on a war footing. We are to be aware of the Enemy’s schemes. We are not to be like the world, which simply “lies in the power of the Evil One.” (1 Jhn 5:14) If we are not fighting back, we are victims, and being victims of our King’s enemy ensures a life of struggling, bondage, and at best, muddling through. Being victimized by Satan does not glorify our King.

​

• We Are Perfectly Equipped for Battle. The Lord, in His Love and Wisdom, has perfectly equipped us in Christ to not only fight back, but to dominate our Enemy. (Col. 1:27; Lke 10:17-19) This will go far in the Lord’s desire to restore the honor to His Name in light of the rebellion of the human race against Him, their Creator.

• There are Two Kingdoms at War. The war between the Domain of Darkness and the Kingdom of God plays out in the lives of men (Gen. 3:15). Everyone is in one kingdom or the other, and if you are in one you then are at war with the other.

​

• Life Makes No Sense if We Don’t Account for This War. Our life as a missionary or evangelist will be mystifying, frustrating, and too often, depressing, if we do not account for this war.

• War is Here Now. We better get ready to fight because ‘war is upon us whether we would risk it or not’, and we will quickly be a casualty if we don’t learn how to fight, which is why Paul states in Ephesians 6 that we are “soldiers” and urges us to put on our armor.

​

• Eph 6 says we are in a wrestling match with entities who do not have bodies
• There is an invisible angelic hierarchy in Satan's rival kingdom;
• We war “against the world 'dominators' of this present darkness”, which are spiritual hosts of wickedness arrayed in battle order against us.

​

• War is Necessary. Spiritual warfare is the pathway to freedom from Enemy oppression. It also brings out into the open the kingdom of Satan and shows God's victory, power and superiority. Spiritual warfare is necessary to demonstrate this fact and so open the eyes of men, all to the glory of God and His Gospel.

​

• War Determines Destinies. Governments have earthly armies and weapons but only the Christian church has the weapons to win in the heavenlies. The one who wins there determines the course of history on earth of individual men and nations.

​

GOD’S PURPOSE IN HEALING/DELIVERANCE – TO RESTORE THE HONOR OF HIS NAME

“I am He who blots out your transgressions for my own sake” (Is. 43:25)

​

• The Crown of Creation Was a Disaster. Man was the “crown of God’s creation”, but then committed treason, causing great dishonor to God and the enslavement of man by God’s sworn Enemy. Restoration of the glory of God’s name, therefore, is directly dependent upon our exaltation out of slavery under Satan to the Father’s right hand in Christ, where we have authority over our Enemies.

​

• Miracles Honor the Lord. Healing ministry and other miracles, as an inherent part of the Plan of Salvation, is a primary means by which God accomplishes His main purpose pending His return - to reverse the great dishonor to Him caused by man’s treason:

​

• Man’s grand purpose of reflecting to the visible world the immortal, invisible God was hijacked by Satan who now uses unregenerate man to reflect his character and his oppression instead.

​

• Like Jesus Himself, many other heroes of the Bible (e.g., David, Phineas, Elijah) could not stand for God to be dishonored, and in their zeal for His Name, risked death to see His enemies destroyed and His honor restored, and as a result, performed great feats of faith. May we do the same!

​

• His Promises are Good. Intrinsic to the glory of His Name is the fulfillment of all of His blessings and Promises (For your Name’s sake, you will lead me… Psalm 23:3)

​

• God is Love. Healing ministry also glorifies God by demonstrating His infinite compassion for His creation, and is the working out of His nature, for God is Love.

*FIGHTING FOR FREEDOM: ENFORCING OUR LEGAL RIGHT TO ENTER IN AND BECOME ESTABLISHED IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD

From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and violent men take it by force. (Mat. 11:12)

• BORN A SLAVE: The identity we received from our parents through Adam was the identity of a slave of Satan trapped forever in the domain of darkness.

​

• NO WAY OUT OF SLAVERY: The only way out of a slave kingdom is death, purchased freedom (ransomed), or the master’s voluntary grant of freedom, and, like Pharaoh, Satan was not about to voluntarily free us.

​

• EXCEPT OUR GOD FOUND A WAY – LEGALLY: We were legally bought (ransomed/redeemed at a price set by God Himself – the blood of Christ) out of Satan’s domain. The Father, our new Owner/Master, then joined our spirit to Christ in both His death and resurrection. Being re-born into the Kingdom of God, we now have the right to live there. It is our birthright, actually, to rule and reign in His realm with the Lord for eternity. Let us not be cheated out of it!

​

• BUT SATAN REFUSES TO RECOGNIZE OUR FREEDOM: Satan, being a criminal, does not recognize the legality of the transaction, just as the Canaanites did not leave just because God gave legal title to Canaan to Abraham's descendants.

​

• SO WE MUST FIGHT TO REALIZE OUR FREEDOM: Thus, as with the Canaanites, Satan’s slave foremen must be forcefully ousted from our lives through warfare, which we engage in with the use of the Kingdom authority Christ granted us. The Kingdom of God is to be violently imposed upon the forces of Ethe Domain of Darkness. (Mat. 11:12) This requires us to understand and wield the very power of God against them, as Paul did. (1 Cor. 2:1-5)

​

• WE ARE TO LEARN WAR (Jdg. 3:2): We are to learn war as we live out of our new identity in Christ in the position of power at the right hand of the Most High God. It’s what a King’s Princes and Princesses do!

THE CONQUEST OF CANAAN AS A METAPHOR

FOR THE SPIRITUAL WARFARE NECESSARY TO BECOME ESTABLISHED IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD

Let us fear if while a promise remains of entering into His rest, any one of you should seem to come short of it. (Hbr. 4:1)

Numbers 13-14 are two of the most significant chapters in all of Scripture, as the Promised Land is a metaphor for both the life of rest promised in Christ, as explained in Hebrews Chapters 3 and 4, and becoming established in and living out from our new identity as royal offspring in the Kingdom of God

HEALING/DELIVERANCE IS GOD’S JUSTICE

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and JUST to forgive us our sins. (1 Jhn 1:9)

• Can God be relied upon to do justice? If you take away one thing from this slide it should be this: the question of whether you deserve healing, or are “good” enough to get God’s attention, is the wrong question. Get it out of your mind as it will crush your faith. The right question focuses on Christ and not you and is this: can God be relied upon to do justice? – to uphold the legal consequences of Christ’s work on the cross in removing the Curse of sin, and its consequences like disease, from you? Since He is just, the answer, of course, is YES. He can be relied on to do justice and therefore heal.

​

• It is Just that We Be Healed! Psalm 31:1 the Holy Spirit states through David, in part: “…In your righteousness, deliver me.” Psalm 71:2 says the same thing: “…In your righteousness, deliver me.” Several other Psalms use the exact same wording. Complementing the above, Psalm 34:17 says: The righteous cry out, the Lord hears, and delivers them from all their troubles. And two verses later: Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers them out of them all. Additionally, Proverbs 11:6 says: The righteousness of the upright will deliver them... The point to note here, not to be missed, is this: We are not delivered because the Lord makes an ad hoc decision to grant us a favor out of the goodness of His heart, although he is Good. He delivers us because, as a result of Christ’s work, JUSTICE requires that we be delivered!

​

• Our Healing was Accomplished on the Cross. It is finished - We Are Now to Receive it. When we examine the stories of the afflicted woman of Mark 5:25-34 who touched Christ’s cloak, the healings through Peter’s shadow (Acts 5:15-16), Paul’s handkerchiefs (Acts 19:12), and the men of Gennesaret (Mark 6:53-56), where the afflicted were healed merely by coming into contact with Christ’s robe, Peter’s shadow, or Paul’s handkerchiefs, where was this supposed divine selectivity or ‘sovereignty’ as to whom would be healed and whom wouldn’t? It’s not to be found, because it is a tradition of men, no less odious than the beatification of selected ‘saints’ by the Catholic church.

THE ULTIMATE REALITY AND SOURCE OF ALL OPPRESSION

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. (Eph. 6:12)

• Satan is the Enemy. When we think supernaturally, we realize that Satan is our enemy, and his demonic subjects his soldiers. We begin to have our eyes opened to see him working behind the scenes. We expose the works of darkness and direct our artillery at his forces, not at those individuals the Lord places in our life. Our enemy is not flesh and blood.

​

• Satan Has Taught Us How to Think. Satan is the Ruler of this World (Jhn 14:29) and Prince of the Domain of Darkness. Therefore, he is the source of all oppression. From the moment we are born as slaves in his kingdom (Rom. 7:14), he begins to teach us how to think. This is how he controls his kingdom – by controlling our thinking (Eph. 2:1-3; Gen. 3:11).

​

• We Have Been Delivered Out of His Domain. The Rulers and Authorities, as Paul calls them, are the demonic Overseers of the slave plantation called the Domain of Darkness. The Father, because of the great love with which He loved us, by perfectly legal means, transferred us believers out of the domain of darkness and into the Kingdom of His beloved Son. (Col. 1:13)

​

• Satan Has No Remaining Legal Right Over Us. The Father disarmed the rulers and authorities, and He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Christ. Col. 2:15 He did this by buying us out of the slave kingdom, killing us by joining us to Christ, rebirthing us in Christ’s very life, and then exalting us with Christ to His right hand, the position of power over our former slave masters, and still current world-wide oppressors. (Eph. 1:15-21; Eph. 2:6)

​

• His Oppression is Illegal. Except now their oppression is ILLEGAL because we outrank them in the Kingdom! And that makes all the difference in a Kingdom where righteousness and justice are its foundations.

• I am just a sinner saved by grace, a spiritual worm. Even though I believe I am in Christ and am God’s child, I am so unworthy that I really have no right to receive anything from God, even those things already purchased for me by Christ at the cost of his blood.

• I did receive Christ as my savior, but I’m not sure that really changed who I was in any material way. I don’t ‘feel’ like a ‘new creation.’ Certainly, even though it would be truly wonderful, I have no expectation of doing the works that the heroes of the bible did. I am told that would be a prideful presumption. They were somehow different…

• I’ve always been taught that Faith is simply believing God is ‘sovereign’ and can and will do anything He wants, but we can’t know ahead of time what that will be...I usually toss up a prayer or two when pressed, but because He is ‘sovereign’, which seems to mean He can violate His own promises of rescue and deliverance, as I’ve learned to understand the term, I actually have little confidence it will make a difference.

*WHAT ARE SOME OF THE BIGGEST LIES OF ALL THAT WE BELIEVE ABOUT GOD AND THE GOSPEL?

• God is aloof, and not really “all in”. If He was, He wouldn’t have [fill in the blank, e.g., let my mom die of cancer when I was so young). In fact, Eve was right - He is holding back on me. He has not done enough. Christ may secure my eternity, but I am desperate for help now, today…Where is He? Why has He come to earth and gone back to heaven and left us defenseless against so much that is against us – disease and heartbreak and all the rest? Especially because He could fix it all with a snap of his fingers?

​

• Worse, I am occasionally told in church that God is actually the one who is the source of my afflictions and my troubles. How frightening is that? And if that is true, why even pray? Why even go to the doctor? In fact, many times during the day I secretly live in fear of some personal calamity coming from Him.

​

Note that these lies, which many have accepted, go directly to how we conceive of the very heart of God, and therefore directly impact our trust and intimacy.

THE BIGGEST LIE OF ALL IS THE FIRST LIE: “GOD IS HOLDING BACK”

So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate. (Gen. 3:6)

• What is the biggest lie of all? It is the first lie – the lie promulgated by the serpent and believed by Eve – the lie that God is holding out on us and is not really “all in”. Again, that is the first lie – the lie that that God is a stingy cheapskate, and it is the biggest lie and the most difficult to extract from our thinking.

​

• As the children of Eve, we have believed it, and our Western theology dresses it up in sophisticated sounding doctrines (e.g., God is exercising His ‘sovereignty’ – even when in violation of His character and Promises!), all of which support this lie, that God is apparently mostly concerned with perpetuating his own position, not in helping us become healed and whole today.

​

• We get to the point where disillusionment and frustration take over, and fear, anxiety, and hopelessness are our regular companions. Where is He? Why doesn’t He answer? Sure, Christ was sent to take away my sins, but what good does that do me in the here and now?

​

• And if we do not believe that God is “all in” on our side, we will doubt His love, and if we doubt His love, we will not trust him, and therefore we will grow feint and lose heart.

​

• Subtly, slowly, over time, we may lose our faith, substituting for it a smiley-faced fatalism that churchianity may encourage, but is a lie which the Lord abhors, not least because it makes Him out to be cruel, and a much worse parent than any of us would ever conceive of being.

*GOD HAS HELD BACK NOTHING - THE EVERLASTING BLOOD COVENANT BETWEEN GOD AND MAN

And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your offspring after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your offspring after you. (Gen. 17:7)

• A Blood Covenant Between God and Man – the Secret of Faith. Genesis 15 contains what Tim Keller calls “one of the strangest events in all Scripture.” However, outside of the incarnation and the resurrection, it is arguably also the single most significant event in human history, for because of it the Lord Jesus was sent to the earth. For what Genesis 15 describes is nothing less than the establishment of an everlasting Blood or Death covenant between the Creator-God, on the one hand, and one Man and his family, on the other.

​

• Christ was Man’s Representative in the Covenant. In Genesis 15, The Father Himself (the smoking fire pot), entered into an everlasting (Blood) Covenant with His Son (the flaming torch), as Abraham’s (and our) Blood Covenant representative. 

​

• All that God Has and Is We Are to Call Upon. According to covenant law, this means that all that the Father has becomes ours in Christ, to assure us that all that He has is available to us, and all that He has is wrapped up in His Son, who is now ours (See Lke 15:12, 31). Because of the blood covenant, union with God is not just a neat theological concept, it is a legal reality for which the life of God Himself and the entire Universe has been put up as collateral to secure every promise that reflects it.

​

• Those in Christ Are Abraham’s Heirs of the Covenant Promises. Therefore, Christianity is not a religion; it is a relationship an everlasting blood covenant between God and the family of Abraham – the two have become one Spirit! (1 Cor. 6:17) Gal. 3:29 says: And if you belong to Christ, you are Abraham’s descendants, and therefore heirs according to the Promise.

​

• Know Your Covenant Rights! If I don't believe in the reality of my supernatural enemies, the concept of a Blood Covenant friend or partner has no real meaning to me. If I do, then I will call upon my covenant friend and, because of who He is, I will take great assurance from His promises of victory over my enemies!

For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil may not dwell with you. (Ps. 5:4)

• Is God Evil? What is the second biggest lie of all? It is this: that God is personally bringing evil into my life. But “God cannot be tempted with evil, and He himself tempts no one.” Ja. 1:13

​

• Did Jesus Put Sickness on People? Jesus is the “exact representation of the Father”. Hbr. 1:2 What evil did He do? What oppression did He put on people? In fact, He Himself asked the Pharisees: “Which of you can prove Me guilty of sin?” (Jhn 8:46 )Of course, none of them could.

​

• Has God Really Ordained All? Nevertheless, much of the Western church has adopted a theology where God ordains all things, down to the minutiae; therefore, the logical conclusion is that everything that happens is a reflection of God’s will. This is, unfortunately, a horribly destructive lie, and directly contradicts the Lord’s Prayer where Christ prayed God’s will be done on earth. Why pray for it if it is already the case?

​

• The Unanswerable Theodicy. Moreover, it causes us to struggle with the theodicy: if God is good, why evil?

​

COROLLARIES OF THE SECOND BIGGEST LIE

For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil may not dwell with you. (Ps. 5:4)

Beneath the religiosity, many believers in the Western church seem to have resigned themselves to impliedly accepting one or more of the following theological positions, which in reality are surely odious to our Lord (and all over the map):

​

• If God was truly all in for me or all good, He would not allow evil things to happen.

​

• God lets evil things happen for our own good. He is perfecting us, apparently...

​

• We don’t know God’s will concerning suffering in every situation. It seems, however, that He almost always permits it rather than stops it. What chance do I have to fight against God’s will?

​

• Prayer (and fasting) is pretty useless. God will do what He wants anyway. After all, He has already ordained or predetermined everything. Why would He suddenly change His mind?

​

• If God foreknows everything, our paths are already set and there is nothing we can do about it except try to bear up under it.

​

• Every one of the lies, if believed, will be a barrier to receiving all of God’s blessings. It’s time to deeply repent of each of them…

​

*Only Christ can bridge the gap between man and God created by our Sin and resulting Guilt. God is holy and we are not – until He joins us to Christ. Now we are Holy! Whereas, before we were joined to Christ, Justice demanded our condemnation, now that we have been joined to Him, Justice demands our justification, and exaltation to the right hand of God with Him!

**Man is a traitor by nature because that is the nature Adam passed on to his offspring. Man cannot change his nature by his conduct, and so is unfit for heaven no matter how he “performs”. Therefore, God had to “perform” and solve our nature problem by sending Christ and joining us to him so we would now instantly have His nature – His righteousness. (2 Pe. 1:4) Christianity is (good) news to be gladly received; Religion is “advice” to be grudgingly adhered to.

Man trying to bridge the “sin gap” and reach God in his own efforts, to create his own righteousness, which is the religion paradigm, is like trying to swim from California to Japan. Some get farther than others (e.g., Billy Graham), but everyone eventually fails and drowns.

When we are “born again”, it is in our spirit. (Jhn 3:5) The Spirit of Jesus resurrects our old spirit from the dead (Rom. 6:5) to a brand new life (2 Cor. 5:17) when the Father joins us to Him as ‘one spirit.’ (1 Cor. 6:17) Accordingly, as one spirit with Him, we now have His life, His righteousness, and His blessing from the Father. As we permit Christ to live and reign through and in the new us, He increasingly exerts His sovereignty over the rest of our being and conforms us to His image (Rom. 8:29), as His cross works death into our old flesh patterns, self-will, and negative emotions. (Col. 3:5) As John the Baptist said: ‘I (i.e., my old flesh patterns) must decrease and He must increase.’ (Jhn. 3:30)

This part of us, our inner nature as a rebel, which we inherited from Adam, was joined to Christ in his death on the cross. We thus died out of the Satanic slave kingdom, our rebellious nature was put to death, and we were resurrected with Christ’s life, the very life of God himself, now as our new nature and identity.

These two parts of us, body and soul, did not die on the cross, but are to be subjugated over time to our spirit, that our bodies and souls may serve Him who NOW lives in our spirit.

CAN A BELIEVER BE TORMENTED BY AN UNCLEAN SPIRIT?

Clearly, an unclean spirit cannot dwell in the same place with the Holy Spirit. But man is tripartite – body, soul, and spirit. (1 Th. 5:23). The Holy Spirit dwells with our spirit, but as Paul painstakingly demonstrates in Romans 7:18-23, evil resides in our soul/body. Therefore, Paul is quite clear that evil dwelt within him. The Holy Spirit, then, can and does reside with evil, sin, and disease in the same person, just in different parts of that tripartite person. So it would be logical and Scriptural to conclude that nothing prohibits a demonic presence, as Satan is the original rebel and therefore the source of sin and therefore evil, to also be there, and in that case, any believer can be sorely afflicted or oppressed in his mind/body by the Enemy. And so we would expect, as we are all refugees from the domain of darkness. These demonic strongholds are “the Canaanite cities” that must be destroyed so that the “rest” for the people of God (Hbr. 4:1) can be realized.

Salvation is deliverance from the Satanic spirit (spirit of rebellion/sin) out of our spirit. Healing/deliverance is deliverance from the Satanic spirit out of our soul and body (the cause of emotional and physical torment, the twin pillars of Satan’s slave Kingdom)

Demonic “oppression” of a believer can be heavy, medium, or light. Regardless, the answer is to deal with it exactly as Christ and the disciples dealt with it – and that is to have its source ejected through the ministry of authority exercised in the Great name of Jesus.

OTHER CAUSES OF OPPRESSION:

Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft (1 Sam. 15:23)

• Personal sin – all rebellion is walking in agreement with the Enemy and granting him a place in your life. Some sins are more serious than others, in the sense that they lead to heavier oppression and more powerful opponents, e.g., occultism (e.g., witchcraft, horoscopes, horror movies), and sexual immorality (1 Cor. 6:18)

​

• Personal/ancestral trauma – the Enemy will seek to piggy-back on and exacerbate physical or emotional traumas. Physical or emotional trauma can lead to walking in agreement with the Enemy, e.g., depression.

​

• Generational iniquities/doorways - “…the iniquities of the fathers are passed on to the children to the 3^rd or 4^th generation” (Ex. 34:7) (The phrase is a Hebrew idiom meaning “for as long as it takes.”) An iniquity is a vulnerability, a weakness, a proclivity towards particular sin which the ancestor has engaged in. We may not automatically fall into the same or similar sin, but we are born with a propensity to do so.

​

• Break it Off. Everything must be renounced, confessed, canceled and broken off.

• Blessings and Curses Are Crucial to Understand. Blessings and curses are very significant in the scripture, and therefore in our lives. In particular, curses must be discovered and addressed during ministry time by the minister. The Book of Numbers spends 3 chapters discussing the Midian King’s efforts to get his prophet to curse Israel.

​

• The Power of the Tongue. James 3 discusses extensively the power of the tongue to curse and to bless (Ja. 3:10), and states that it “sets in motion the course of natural events.” (Ja. 3:6) Now that is an astonishing statement!

​

• The Father Blessing. Hebrews 11, the so-called Hall of Fame of Faith, mentions the blessings spoken both by Isaac and Jacob over their children and grandchildren. Did you receive the blessing of your father? If not, please seek it. And regardless whether successful, please realize that you have been blessed by your true Father, more magnificently than you can imagine in this life.

​

• Speak God’s Words Over People. Hebrews 1:3 says that God created the universe by faith in speaking words over it. God’s Word has the power to bring about what it says because He is one with His word. Jhn 1:1 Therefore we should be speaking God’s words over our life and those of others and we should be thinking His thoughts in order to speak His words.

​

THE ROLE OF BLESSINGS AND CURSES

And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body,

setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell. (Ja. 3:6)

Ephesians 6 armor:

• Helmet of salvation – our mind fixes on Christ and His Word

• Belt of truth – because we now know we are Kingdom royalty, we renounce all agreements we’ve made with Enemy lies

• Shield of faith – we know in whom we walk and who protects us

• Shoes which take us to PROCLAIM God’s reconciliation with man, which is the Gospel.

The Ministry of Authority

• We pray to God above when preparing to fight…BUT

• When fighting by addressing our spiritual adversaries who rank far below us in the Kingdom, we command using the Kingdom authority we have by virtue of being at the right hand of Power and which has been expressly delegated to us by Jesus Himself, and the power of God upholds all authority validly spoken in His Name.

• The Word/Truth. The Word of God is God (Jhn. 1:1). The Word of God is the most powerful force in the Universe. Therefore, we speak the Word, and proclaim the many truths associated with the Word in warfare ministry. The Enemy outright fears the Word and can often be brought to submission merely through reciting the Word with confidence and vigor.

​

• Praise. This is especially true when that Word is Praise. Praise breaks our covenants with the Evil One, exalts the Word of God over the lie of the Enemy, and invokes the supernatural presence of the Most High, as He comes to receive the praise due Him. In His presence the Enemy cannot stand but must flee. Praise leads the charge against the Enemy.

​

• Prayer and Fasting. Jesus Himself recommended prayer and fasting in preparation for confronting the Enemy in ministry (Mark 9:29) In sacrificing the flesh, we are “offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God in Christ Jesus.” (1 Pe. 2:5) We don’t pray to God for the authority He has already given us, but we pray for clarity and perseverance in the midst of battle.

​

• Commanding. Jesus modelled healing/deliverance ministry. We would do well to emulate Him. He did not pray for healing; He took authority over the Enemy, the same authority He gave the 12, the 70, and hence all believers, and Jesus reserved His greatest praise for the Centurion who understood kingdom authority.

• Aggression. Authority aggressively employed, backed up by Kingdom Power, is necessary to use against a criminal. Be confident! Our exercise of authority over our spiritual enemies demonstrates the Truth and magnificence of the Gospel.

• “The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but are mighty through God for the pulling down of strongholds.” 2 Cor. 10:4. These weapons are truth/the Word, prayer/fasting, praise, and the exercise of authority. If you understand authority, according to Jesus, you will be way ahead of the game. (Mat. 8:5-13)

• Rule No. 1: Always think correctly/supernaturally/scripturally. (2 Cor. 10:3-5)

• Rule No. 2: Always stay on offense against the Enemy

• Rule No. 3: Deploy your defenses per Ephesians 6

• Rule No. 5: Proclaim out loud before the Supreme Court of Heaven the justice of your cause based upon what Christ has done for you. Liberally use the Word of God in your proclamation.

• Here is the process:
• Have the aspirant describe the problem
• Ask him to affirm that he wants to be healed
• Tell him/her that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who took the penalty of all our sins on the cross, and then was raised from the dead by God as proof that we can all be forgiven if we believe in Him
• Tell him/her that Jesus gave us authority over all demons and sicknesses to prove to the aspirant who He is, and because of God’s great love for the aspirant.
• Tell Him to receive his healing as you proclaim it
• As minister, you want to do 2 things with your words: (1) cast out the tormenting spirits, and (2) proclaim healing/restoration to the mind or specific body parts or both
• Place your right hand on the head or shoulder of the aspirant, and WITH YOUR EYES OPEN (because you are not praying), speak something to this effect: “In the Name of Jesus of Nazareth, I take authority over the demons tormenting [name] with [affliction]. I cancel your demonic assignments and command you to leave him/her NOW! And take all your sickness, disfunction, and torment with you! I also command healing of [the mind/afflicted body parts] in all respects. Jesus is Lord over [aspirant]. Let His will be perfectly done in [aspirant’s] life NOW!”
• Tell him/her to exercise/test the affected body part, if applicable. If no effect, minister a second and a third time. You might also require the aspirant to repent of known sins, and renounce any ongoing occultism/devil worship.
• Lead the aspirant to a confession of saving faith

• Surrender Prayer and Declaration. The believing aspirant should recite out loud once per day for 7 days a Prayer of Complete Surrender to the Lord, and once per day for 7 days a Declaration against all Curses.

​

• Daily Time with the Lord. The believing aspirant should re-dedicate a daily time with the Lord, consisting of prayer, praise, Scripture reading, and Scripture memorization. He/she should mostly avoid books about the scripture and should primarily read the scripture, asking the Holy Spirit for illumination. This is critical to prepare the mind to start receiving as authoritative the truth of God to counter the Enemy’s lies. Tire-kickers do not get free. Warriors do.

​

• Suppliant Must Know and Agree with Healing Theology. The minister should require that the aspirant read up on recommended scriptural healing theology sources. The aspirant must trust the Lord and must believe that the Lord’s will is always to rescue and to heal.

​

• Prayer of Release of Resentment and Confession of Sin. The minister will take the aspirant through a Prayer of Release of All Grudges, along with a Confession of Sin. This will take time. Trust the Holy Spirit to surface all resentments. They must be fully addressed and everyone released, including the aspirant himself, as self-condemnation will stop ministry cold just as much as ongoing sin/rebellion. Likewise, for a child, parental discord or other parental sin (e.g., pornography) can fuel demonic activity in a child, which cannot be dislodged until the fuel has been cut off.

​

• Command the Enemy to Give Its Name. In my ministry, we follow Jesus’ example in Mark 5 and require the Enemy to give their names, and disclose the avenues by which they access the believer, which we then shut down in our authority.

​

• Strength in Numbers. The minister should rarely minister alone. He will need the gifts of the spirit to be in operation and he will not have them all. (I have three magnificently gifted ladies to assist me.) All ministry is free.

DAILY COMMAND OVER HOME

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and JUST to forgive us our sins. (1 Jhn 1:9)

Command: "As head (or, if the wife, ’as one with authority in this home’) of this home, and as one joined to the Lord Jesus (1 Cor. 6:17), seated at the right hand of Power (Eph. 1:15-21; Eph. 2:6), with authority over all unclean spirits, (Lke. 9:1; Lke. 10:18), I take authority over my unseen enemies, especially [name of spirits if you know them], and I cast you down! I cancel all of your demonic assignments against me and my loved ones, especially against [name spouse and children]. They are now void. I command all my enemies to be bound this day and their mouths shut. You will not speak through anyone in this house today, nor will you impel any of my loved ones to think, feel, or do or not do anything. Also, I close off and shut down any demonic pathways by which you access our lives. I destroy any schemes which you have devised to entice, entrap and hurt my family and me and our relationships, health, job, finances, or walk with the Lord (- feel free to get more specific here, such as : I shut down every effort of the Enemy to distort or twist the words between family members, especially between and among ____ and ____, )

Finally, in my authority in Christ, I break off all strongholds, personal and ancestral, which you, my enemies, have established over those in my house, especially (e.g., slothfulness, addiction, anger, depression, fear, anxiety, lust, rebellion, etc.) and forever close off all demonic ancestral avenues, and cut all demonic ancestral and personal soul ties, and plead the blood of Jesus Himself, and His protection over and to completely cover, (name family members)…". AMEN!

THE BATTLE IS THE LORD’S

“For the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give you into our hand.” (1 Sam. 17:47)

• The battle is the Lord’s, as David announces, and the Lord fights it through us. Why? Because He is gracious and wants to to give us purpose and significance.

• The Victory is the Lord’s Victory, and we rejoice with incredulity when we realize that He would only proceed with the battle when we choose to fight with Him and to be used by Him. And then we realize that is when He is glorified the most, because our walking in power glorifies Christ. Our submission to Satan glorifies Satan, not God or Christ.

​

• The Spirit of Jesus is the Commander-in-Chief. He reveals the strategy to pursue. We are entirely dependent on the Holy Spirit to expose the Enemy’s schemes and to dismantle them

​

• We present ourselves to the Lord – ‘Here I am, send me.’ And do not offer any parts of [your body] to sin as weapons for unrighteousness. But as those who are alive from the dead, offer yourselves to God, and all the parts of yourselves to God as weapons for righteousness. (Rom. 6:13)

​

• ‘The LORD will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before you. They shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.’ (Deut. 28:7)
