Emergency Readiness

We do 12 drills per year:

  • 8 Evacuation drills (exit the building)
  • 4 lockdown drills (lights off, doors locked, out of sight)

There is also:

Shelter In: (something on the outside, all doors locked, no one in-no one out, business as usual in the building)

Hold: All students and staff stay in classrooms, business as usual (this is called for a missing student)

*NEW DOE POLICY: Drills must be announced to families at least one week in advance of the date of a drill. We are not allowed to disclose the times. Our drills will be on our school calendar on our website, www.ps770.org.*

Staff have 24-48 hours to reply to emails/phone calls

Staff are not obligated to answer emails/phone calls after 3:05 PM and from 3:05 PM on Friday to 8:45 AM on Monday.

Staff are not obligated to provide their personal phone numbers. If they choose to share, please only use for an emergency.

If a staff member does not return email/call within 48 hours please follow up or contact Ms. Deneice.

All grade wide/school wide communication will go through Remind.

Birthday Policy

At P.S. 770 we celebrate a students’ birthday by recognizing them in the classroom and singing!

If you wish to celebrate your child’s birthday in school, you may send it store-bought treats/goodies that the teachers can easily hand out at the end of the day.

We do not have formal birthday parties in school with parents/guardians, pizza, cake, etc…

Uniform Policy

P.S. 770 is a uniform school.

Students are to wear uniforms at all times unless it is a designated dress down day communicated by the school.

Students are to ALWAYS wear sneakers (or bring sneakers to change into).

Student must wear plain navy blue/black sweaters/cardigans or a PS 770 sweatshirt. Students will be asked to remove anything not in line with the uniform policy.

Absences/Lateness

Attendance matters! Please ensure your child comes to school everyday and on time!

In the event of an absence, please use our survey to notify the school by 8:30 AM.

Students are marked late after 8:55 AM (except bus students).

The DOE automatically makes robo calls for absences and lateness. Ms. Deneice will always call home for the reason as to why a child is absent.

Cell Phone/Electronic Device Policy

At P.S. 770, we understand that students might commute by themselves.

Our policy states that all cell phones/electronic devices/smartwatches are to be handed in while on school property.

If a student has their device out during the day/on the bus, it will be confiscated and returned to an adult/parent/guardian.

Please also be aware that any cyber-bullying that occurs outside of school but is brought to the attention of school staff will be investigated and can lead to suspension.
