Demographics

  • 78 female factory workers were surveyed based on their feelings towards using HER reusable Day Pad. Survey was done in Thai.
  • Almost half of the participants (49%) are between 30 and 39 years old. Almost a quarter (23%) are 40 years or over. Over a quarter (28%) are between 20 and 29 years old.
  • Almost half (43%) of participants say that they have “moderate period flow”. The majority of participants lean towards the heavy flow side, with 47% of participants either saying they have “heavy flow” or “very heavy flow”.
  • Survey participants are either factory workers on a minimum wage (331 baht per day/ average 9,900 per month) or monthly wage of 10,000 baht on average.

Before Use

  • 83% of participants say they have never heard of reusable pads before in their lives prior to this data collection.
  • Approximately 58% indicate that their confidence level towards reusable pads is “no confidence” when compared to single-use pads. 26% say they have “little confidence” and 15% say they have “moderate confidence”. Majority of participants lean towards the lower confidence side of the spectrum.

While Using - Convenience & Comfort

  • 38% of participants rated the convenience in using HER pads as “moderate”. 36% rated “difficult” for convenience. 14% rated “very difficult” and 10% rated “easy”.
  • Half (50%) of all participants rated “difficult” or “very difficult” for convenience in using HER pads.
  • 44% of participants indicate that their feelings towards the pad are “mild”, suggesting they are not satisfied with the product but also do not know how to feel about it either.
  • 40% indicate that their skin feels “irritated” or “very irritated”. 15% indicate that the fabric is “soft and comfortable”. A 25% difference between satisfactory and unsatisfactory responses suggest that the product’s fabric is still irritable.

After Use

  • 68% of participants say that instructions for how to use reusable pads were “easy to understand” or “easy to understand and not cumbersome”. Almost a third of participants (32%), however, found it “difficult to understand and cumbersome”.
  • After using HER reusable pads, more than half (60%) of participants say they have “little confidence” or “no confidence” in reusable cloth pads. 37% say they have “moderate confidence”.

Suggestions/Comments

  • 4 comments say they feel the reusable pad was “unclean”.
  • 4 comments say the buttons and wings were poorly-designed. They say the wings were “too short” and the buttons were “too close together”. Because the wings are too short, the underwear would “curl up together”.
  • 2 comments say women with heavy flow can not use because it will definitely leak.
  • 2 comments say washing the pad is inconvenient and might not be clean.
