What is Media?

We are constantly surrounded by media, we may not even notice that we’re consuming it – or, more importantly, we may consume it without paying attention or engaging with it critically.

Think about all the media you have consumed today. The next slide has a list of media types to consider.

Think about all the media we have have consumed. Share some of these media with a buddy.

Here is a list of media please note the list is by no means exhaustive.

  • Internet
  • Television
  • Radio
  • Video games
  • Newspapers, magazines, books, brochures and other forms of print
  • Outdoor advertising (billboards, bus shelter ads, shop fronts etc.)
  • Product packaging in stores or in products they use at home (fizzy drink bottles, displays)
  • Logos or messages on clothing (yours and others’)
  • Posters and signs
  • Text messages
  • Background music in stores
