Brightspace - Complete the Story

Teacher Task

  1. Navigate to a course
  2. Click Course Tools on the Navbar
  3. Click Assignments
  4. Click New Assignment
  5. Name assignment “Complete the Story”
  6. Search and save a picture that is relevant to your content
  7. Use the Insert Image button to add your image to the Instructions window.
  8. Add the following Instructions “Use this picture as inspiration to write a story. Decide if this picture takes place at the beginning, middle, OR end of the story. Then, write out your story in the textbox below. Remember to explain and describe [insert relevant content vocabulary here] in your story.”

Ex: If this artwork is the beginning of a story, what might happen next?

Ex: If it this artwork is the middle of a story, what might have happened before? What might be about to happen?

Ex: If this artwork is the end of a story, what might the story be?

  • Click Availability Dates & Conditions; select a start and end date that works for your content pacing
  • Click Submission & Completion
  • Under Category, click Create New; name it Quarter 1
  • Toggle to Visible
  • Click Save and Close

Note: Brightspace Assignments are one of the core Brightspace tools.

These directions walk through the process of making a Brightspace Assignment and adjusting Assignment details.

An HTML Document

  1. Navigate to a course
  2. Click Content on the Navbar
  3. Select an existing unit or click +New Unit
    1. Name: Quarter 1
    2. Set Availability Dates for Quarter 1
    3. Click Save and Close
  4. Click Add Existing
  5. Select what to add: Assignment, Discussion, Quiz, Checklist or External Tool
  6. Select the Assignment, Discussion, Quiz, Checklist or External Tool
  7. Change toggle to Visible
  • Navigate to a course
  • Click Content on the Navbar
  • Select an existing unit or click +New Unit
    • Name: Quarter 1
    • Set Availability Dates for Quarter 1
    • Click Save and Close
  • Click Create New
  • Select HTML Document
  • Name: Date Students will complete activity
  • In the Page Content window; click the Insert Quicklink ( ) icon
  • Select the type of course material to add
  • Locate and click the Assignment, Discussion, Quiz, or Checklist to add
  • Click Availability Dates and align to activity

*Bonus: Add detailed instructions for students so they know what is expected of them before and after clicking the link
