Start Your Site

Name the different parts of your site

  • Site Document Name - Only visible to you
  • Site Name - Appears in header after you publish your site
  • Page Title -Each page in your site has a title / appears; also appears in the Navigation Bar

Change the background image

  • Hover over the background image & click “Change Image”
  • Select an image from the Gallery or upload a new one
  • Hit Select !

  • Hover over the background image & click Header Type

Create / Nest a Page

Add Pages

  • Click “Pages” Tab
  • Click “Add page”
  • Name the page

Reorder / Nest Pages

  • Click “Pages” Tab
  • Drag a page up or down to reorder
  • Drag a page on top of another to nest it
  • To un-nest a page, drag to the bottom of the list :: optional ::

:: Note :: You can only nest a page five levels deep

  • Under “Pages” Tab, select a page & click the “jelly beans”
    • Set as homepage
    • Duplicate
    • Rename
    • Create a subpage
    • Remove the page from the site

Use the Navigation Bar to Jump to Different Pages

Change Where the Navigation Bar Appears

  • Hover over the site name and click “Navigation Settings”
  • Choose “Top” or “Side” Navigation

Adding Content / “Meat” !

Click the “Insert Tab”

  • Text Box - Add titles & text
  • Embed URL - Add photos, designs, & other images
  • Images - Add content directly from the web, such as music & videos
  • Upload - Upload photos, videos, & other documents from your device
  • Components - Add a horizontal line to your page
  • Google Drive - If you make changes to files in your Drive, the same changes are automatically shown in Sites !
  • Google Embeds - Add YouTube videos, calendars, & maps

Editing Options :

  • To change the background of each section
    • Click “Style” & select a style
    • You can also select “Image” to add a background image
  • To move a section
    • To move that section up or down, click the “Move section” dots & drag
  • To duplicate a section
    • Click “Duplicate section”
  • To add a footer
    • Scroll to bottom of the page and click “Add Footer”

  • Crop an Image
    • Select the image & then select “Crop”
    • Slide the “blueberry” to zoom in or out
  • Replace Image
    • Click “jelly beans” / “more”
    • Replace image / Select image
    • Add alternative text for when people hover over the image (optional)

Embed

  • This includes Websites, Web apps using Google Apps Scripts / App Maker, Google Data Studio Reports
  • Click “Insert” → Embed URL
    • Enter or paste the URL you want to embed
    • Select Whole page or Preview & click “Insert”

Sharing permissions

  • To Share, click “Add editors”
  • Set permissions for across your organization under “Who can edit”
  • Invite certain people to collaborate by selecting “Invite people”

Publish Your Site for the 1st Time !

You need to add a site name to complete the site URL the 1st time you publish

  • Click “Publish”
  • Add a name to the end of the URL
  • Under “Who can visit my site,” choose who can see your site
  • Click “Publish” again

  • Select “URL”
