Sir Cecil De Salis was the original chairman of school governors from 1907- 1944

From 1115-1281 the school site belonged to Evesham Abbey and was occupied by Benedictine monks

Before 1115 the school site was occupied by the Lord of the manor who lived here in Hillingdon manor

Stanley
The Stanley family were Lords of the manor of Hillingdon in medieval times

Worcester
From 1281- 1855 the school site belonged to the Bishop of Worcester. They had a house here and ‘halted’ on their way to London, hence Bishops halt

In 1281 Godfrey Giffard, was the first Bishop to halt here after acquiring the land the school is built on.

The Bishopshalt Curriculum is EVERYTHING
It’s the moment the students arrive at our gates ready to learn until they come back to us the very next day to try to be better than the previous day.
We want EVERY student to have enrichment opportunities to do between Year 7 and Year 13.

The curriculum is everything we do. We offer a vast co-curricular programme.
It is the expectation that all students will be involved in at least one co-curricular opportunity per half-term.

Assessment
You will receive a timetable and an outline of the content to be covered in each assessment to ensure you are able to support your child in revising for these assessments. All assessment information is on the school website and Google classroom.
Formal assessment periods will be starting the weeks beginning :
Assessments will focus on the content and skills taught that term, with 25% of the assessment testing their retention of previous topics.
Students will get detailed feedback and a score out of 100.

Homework
In response to feedback from students and parents, there will be a timetable for the Core curriculum. Furthermore, all subjects will set homework as assessment on Google Classroom and students will be given a week to complete homework.

Examples of behaviour that warrant a warning:
If your child receives an OnCall, they are automatically placed into a 1 hour detention, that day. The severity of their behaviour will be reviewed by SLT and a further sanction may be issued.
Warnings restart at the beginning of each lesson.

Year 10 and 11
Students who receive a high number of behaviour points, Oncalls and / or concerning effort / behaviour scores in their termly reports will be placed on report with their Form Tutor.
If a significant and sustained improvement in effort and behaviour is not evident, they will be referred to their Head of Year.
If there is continued cause for concern, students will be place on a Pastoral Support Plan and may be later be considered for our onsite alternative provision - Almitas House.
