Hi, my name is Angélica Maria Alvarez. I graduated CGB in 2019 and I’m studying economics at Universidad de los Andes where I’m currently in my 4th semester.

Angélica Maria Alvarez ‘19

This year, I’m an undergraduate TA for Introductory Macroeconomics and it’s been a great experience to help other students in the course and learn about how classes, activities and assessments are planned. I’ve also participated in a regional essay contest where I discussed the gender pay gap and was able to interact with students from different regions in Colombia.

Now that the vaccination has started, I’m looking forward to going back to campus soon and living the full university experience!

Nathalie Heller ‘18

Hello CGB community!

My name is Nathalie Heller and I’m an alumnus who graduated back in 2018. After high school, I moved to Montréal, Canada to complete a Bachelor of Commerce at Concordia University. I am in my final year and I am majoring in Supply Chain Operations Management. Because I wanted to get as involved as possible and leave my footprint, I work part-time in the campaigns department at my university’s student union, and I am also a member of the international business association.

At my job, I get to organize campaigns centred around a variety of paramount issues such as the Black Lives Matter movement, sustainability, migrant justice, sexual harassment, tuition hikes, amongst others. At my association, I arrange the logistical details of a handful of events, such as networking sessions, panels, workshops, social events, and case competitions, in order to help international business students get a better grasp of what their field of study is all about.

The stuff I do is extremely interesting and challenging, but in all honesty I truly miss the closeness and familiar feeling you would get while studying at CGB!

Warm regards to everyone in these tough times,

Nathalie

Those who shared my time at CGB with me know that I was always (and still continue to be) passionate about RUGBY 🏉 . For those of you who didn’t know that about me, I am sure you have heard of the Alex Bjoroy 7s Rugby Tournament.

A tournament that gathered the best U-18 school rugby teams in the region for a day of healthy competition. It was during the 2011 tournament that I realized how in love with sports I was. It was an *edition full of brotherhood, rivalry and other moments that gave me the happiest memories of my teenage years. It made me understand that I would always want to be involved with sports. On the other hand, the 2012 tournament brought sadness and frustration along with it. That year I was forced to live most of the tournament from the sidelines, ruled out by a shoulder injury. The unhappiness and disappointment felt during that tournament marked me. I knew that no athlete deserved to feel that and that I would do my best to prevent it from ever happening again.

Nowadays I am enrolled at Purdue University in USA, pursuing a PhD in Biomedical Engineering. My research focuses on Sports Biomechanics and the development of Sports related Products. I spend my work days testing materials, designing products and analyzing data with the goal of ensuring a safer playing environment for all types of athletes. Some of my work has recently been published in the Journal of Biomechanical Engineering (link 1 below) and PLoS ONE (link 2 below). My free time is spent playing - and recently coaching - with the Purdue Mens Rugby team.

I am living a dream that was initially forged within the yellow walls of CGB and the rugby posts of “El Club Alemán”.

CHA CHA: Andrea Cardozo ‘08

We are a woman owned company that wanted to bring a different approach to cacao based products. Chocolates are often viewed as unhealthy treats or foods. That’s the point of view we are thriving to change. Our chocolates don’t have sugar added, we use Stevia (a natural source of sweet) to sweeten our chocolates. The benefit of Stevia is that it doesn’t raise sugar levels on your organism therefore it can be consumed by diabetics. Also our products are on the way to get certified as NON GMO and we have a Vegan certification. This all sums up to a product that has all the upsides of the nutritional benefits of cacao without the downside of all the sugar added in most products.

We strongly believe in social responsibility. Our cacao comes from small producers of replacement crops where we support them with economic development to their craft and their communities. We also have a foundation called Support Women which works each and every day towards gender equality bringing education and help to young women, supporting them to accomplish whichever goals they might have.

Our products include:

Chocolate 100% CACAO

Chocolate 70% Cacao

Chocolate 70% Cacao with almonds.

Chocolate 70% Cacao with crispy rice.

Hosie Marketing & Consulting: Vicente Hosie ‘08

I’m an architect who worked at different architecture firms and found a problem among the industry: you can have a great product or idea, but they’ll never work if you don’t know how to market them. I have spent more than 5 years in the marketing industry learning what it takes to market and sell a great idea and product and service.

Alumni Entrepreneurship:

Discover all the alumni owned businesses and support them

Having lived through 2 bankrupt architecture firms, I decided I was going to teach architects and related fields the skills needed to succeed in the marketing business to see them grow and not have to live what I lived.

My goal is to help architects and related fields develop a great marketing strategy and execute it to get more sales.

From one of our teachers

Cordialmente,

Richard Coronado
