OVERVIEW

  1. Section 104a (f) states

(f) The system must provide that, by not later than 30 days after a benchmark assessment or benchmark assessments are administered as described in this subsection, the district shall send benchmark assessment data, excluding data from a local benchmark assessment, as applicable, aggregated by grade level, student demographic subgroups, and mode of instruction to the department. If available, the data described in this subdivision must include information concerning pupil growth from fall 2020 to fall 2021.

  • Section 98b (1)(a)

(a) By not later than the first meeting of the board that occurs in February of 2022 and by not later than the last day of the 2021-2022 school year, the district superintendent or chief administrator of the district, as applicable, shall present both of the following at a public meeting of the board:

NEED FOR MODE OF INSTRUCTION

  • Per the Spring Aggregation Rules from MDE: Students should be assigned to one subgroup based on the primary mode in which they received instruction between August 1st, 2021 and June 1st, 2022.
  • Focus is on the PRIMARY mode of instruction, or the status for each student overall. We know this can change on a daily basis due to many factors.
  • In MiDataHub, we are receiving the data as StudentCohortAssociations with students tied to each of the three modes as Cohorts
  • This allows for either a single entry or for multiple entries, whichever is more convenient for the district to track.
  • Recommend only tracking major changes – lasting a month or longer

LOADING MOI DATA FROM YOUR SIS SYSTEM

  • Edupoint Synergy – The standard Synergy process is handled through setting up a group/cohort. Documentation is on a shared secure site. Reach out to Jeanne Fisher (jfisher@cmtonline.com) at CMT if you have any questions or issues accessing the documentation. Tony Howard at GISD has developed an export in the format needed to use the MOI Import.
  • Infinite Campus – Contact Infinite Campus support.
  • MISTAR-Q – Contact MISTAR-Q support.
  • PowerSchool – Submit a ticket to PowerSchool support for instructions.
  • Skyward

HOW TO PROVIDE MODE OF INSTRUCTION

  • If your district created your own aggregate, use the template found on the MDE Benchmark Assessments website to provide a completed aggregate with MOI data
  • If your district provided student-level assessment data through MiDataHub AND your SIS has capability to capture MOI, provide it through your SIS
  • If your district provided student-level assessment data through MiDataHub BUT your SIS does not have capability to capture MOI, provide it through MiDataHub upload functionality
    • Especially for districts who used the MSDS Import

VERIFYING THAT YOUR MOI DATA IS AVAILABLE FOR AGGREGATION

  • Re-Running the Mode of Instruction Export
  • Mode of Instruction query
    • Reports>Manage Custom Exports
    • Use Query Tag dropdown to select

UPCOMING ENHANCEMENTSFOR ERROR CHECKING

  • Breaking Fall and Spring into two separate categories
  • Filtering our prior year assessments
  • Adding Mode of Instruction totals, including an Assumed In-Person total

UPCOMING ENHANCEMENTSFOR SECTION 98B QUERIES

  • Looking for a template from MDE as was provided for Fall Assessment
  • Adding Mode of Instruction
  • Updating with Spring Assessment
    • Using the last assessment of the year
  • Some of the queries timed out
  • Can be run by setting up as an Outbound Integration
  • support@midatahub.org for help
