Executive Summary

Girls' Empowerment and Advocacy Network (GEAN) is a Nigerian NGO working at the grassroots level to empower girls and young women aged 11–25 through menstrual health education, mentorship, and gender advocacy.

We are seeking grant funding to expand our reach, deepen our programmes, and sustain the operational infrastructure that makes this work possible.

Funding Priorities

• Scale menstrual health outreach to additional communities

• Formalise and expand mentorship and skills programming

• Strengthen GEAN's organisational capacity and documentation systems

• Develop monitoring and evaluation frameworks for all programmes

GEAN operates as a lean, community-rooted organisation with demonstrable field presence.

Root Causes and GEAN's Response

Root Cause 1: Lack of Information

Girls lack access to accurate health information, legal knowledge, and awareness of their own rights. GEAN responds through sensitisation outreach and community education.

Root Cause 2: Lack of Access

Poverty limits access to sanitary products, safe spaces, and guidance. GEAN responds through product distribution and linking girls to resources and mentors.

Root Cause 3: Structural Neglect

Girls' issues are chronically underfunded and deprioritised. GEAN responds through public advocacy, documentation, and amplifying girls' voices in community spaces.
