Welcome!

Concurrent enrollment is an early college program that provides high school students the opportunity to enroll in courses at the College of the Sequoias. Concurrently enrolled will be enrolled in college courses with regular college students and taught by COS faculty. College credit earned can be applied towards students’ college record and may also count towards fulfilling high school graduation requirements at their school.

Aspects of concurrent enrollment include, but not limited to: �

High school students can take up to 11 units, which qualifies them to receive a fee-waiver for courses. Concurrently enrolled students are financially responsible for textbook and other course-related fees. Undocumented students are also eligible for a fee-waiver
Concurrent enrolled students must meet all course prerequisites and courses must be approved by high school and parents.
Concurrent enrollment is self-initiated (limited guidance by staff and the experience is managed primarily by the student). It is important that students have the readiness to handle college-level work as well as the maturity to navigate college environments.
It is the students’ responsibility to share final grades with high school if they wish to use college credit earned to fulfill high school graduation requirements.

Concurrent enrollment and dual enrollment are often used interchangeably, but they are two distinctively different programs at COS. What makes them different is the location of courses, cost, and student expectations. Concurrently enrolled students are more independent, whereas, dual enrollment students are guided by coordinated efforts between students’ high school and COS. What do I need to complete my COS application?

College of the Sequoias

Before getting started; here are a few items that are needed to complete the application.

In order to complete the admission application, it is important that you have or know your Social Security Number. If you do not have a Social Security Number, you will check the box that you do not have one to provide at this time, and the subsequent box stating you do not have a social security number. If you have a Social Security Number, but are not able to provide at the time of completing the application, you will check the box that you decline to provide it at this time and will need to submit it to COS later before you are allowed to register for classes.

You will also need a personal email address to create your account, separate from your high school email address. Your high school email address will expire once you graduate from high school so please create a personal email address if you do not already have one. This personal email address is where COS will send your student ID, email, and log in information so make sure you have access to this email account.

It would be helpful if you have with you or know how to locate your high school transcript through CCGI (California Colleges Portal) or your high school student portal. The application will ask the highest English and Math level(s) completed, grades of those courses, as well as GPA information. This is used as an assessment tool to place you into the correct level of English and Math courses at COS.
