Student Responsibilities

  • Be on time and prepared to do work (have handouts and materials ready to go)
  • The ‘U’ in University prep stands for “you do the work!’
  • Absent from class- use the google site to ensure they catch up.
  • Regular completion of homework is essential for success in Biology.
  • Ask questions and come for extra help.
  • Make nightly study notes and do all assigned homework.

Parent responsibilities

  • Ensure your child comes to class on time, with the necessary materials and ready to work.
  • Remind them that daily practice is imperative for success.
  • Check the google classroom for the unit outlines to help your child manage due dates
  • Ensure studying happens in a quiet space without distractions
  • If absent, ensure student check the google classroom
  • Ask them what they did in bio today. Get them to explain the daily lesson to you.
  • Respond to my concerns about attendance, punctuality and work habits.
  • Vacations during the school year? Not recommended. If you leave for vacation, I strongly suggest hiring a tutor to ensure your child does not fall behind in school.

Teacher responsibilities

  • Provide a fun and caring learning environment= EXTRINSIC motivation.
  • Present information in a clear and logical manner.
  • Present clear expectations of students; including learning and behaviour in class.
  • Provide many different types of assessments (formative, quizzes, tests, labs, projects, and assignments)
  • Ensure that the unit outlines on the google classroom are up to date.
  • Provide extra help. Monday after school, Tues and Wed 12-12:30 p.m.
  • Communicate concerns with parents.

Some incredible news!

Your kids will be begin be the first group of grade 11s to work with our new Biotechnology suite!

Through a very generous parent donation, I have acquired PCRs, electrophoresis and all the laboratory materials to support these powerful tools.

This means is we can do some cool sci fi stuff that some university students don't even get to do.
