Library Books

We are excited to share that all grade levels, except Kindergarten, have begun checking out library books! Please remind your student to take care of these valuable resources by reading with clean, dry hands; avoiding food and drinks around the books; and keeping them away from unattended young children and pets.

A great way to keep library books safe when not in use is to store them in a clean and dry backpack.

If a library book gets damaged, please refrain from trying to repair it at home. Instead, encourage your child to bring the damaged book to Mrs. Johnson for proper repair. In the event that a library book is lost or damaged beyond repair, we will ask for a replacement fee to help us maintain our collection.

Our Kindergarten students are still learning about the library and how to care for books–they will be checking out library books in the near future.

Thank you for your support in fostering a love of reading!

Laura Johnson, Librarian laura.johnson@glasgow.kyschools.us 270-651-3806 ext. 2334

Helpful Info and Reminders

Please download the GIS app, as shown on slide 5 and the QR code below. Due to Senate Bill 181, we are required to use a traceable form of digital communication. Our district is using Rooms. Teachers will be using Rooms as their main form of digital communication. It is very important that you join your teachers class when sent an invite. If you are having any issues, please contact Mr. Peters at school. This app is where grade level teachers and other staff will provide families information, such as grade level messages, newsletters, homework information, field trips, etc. The QR code below will take you to the App Store to download the app. Thanks.

The GIS app will have Rooms at the bottom, once you have logged in.

SGE and GPA parents,

Please do not enter from 31-E for arrival and dismissal. In the afternoon, if you enter from 31-E, it will lead to your child’s name not being typed into our pickup list. Our teachers watch this list to know when to send students to the front door.

Thanks.

Teachers choose a student from their homeroom each week that best demonstrated the character trait for for the month. Students selected get to spin the wheel for a nice prize! This is one way we recognize students and promote our character education initiative. Pictures of the winners are often posted on Facebook.

On the last Friday of the month we select a Top Dog for the month in each grade. The grade level teachers agree on one student in the grade that most demonstrated the character trait for the month. Students selected get to spin the wheel for a nice prize! This is one way we recognize students and promote our character education initiative. Pictures of the winners are often posted on Facebook.

Helpful Attendance Reminders

SGE Parents/Guardians: This is a quick guide to understanding attendance and truancy procedures for our district.

  1. All parents/guardians are required to notify the school when your student is absent, and provide documentation (parent note or doctor’s note) for each absence of their child.

  • Parent notes are limited by policy to a maximum of six (6) events (absences, tardies, or signing out early), after which a doctor’s note will be required.

  • Any child who has been absent from school, tardy, or signs out early for three (3) days without a parent note or doctor’s note is considered by law to be truant.

  • On the sixth (6) unexcused event, a final notice of impending legal action can be delivered to the parents in the form of a letter or a visit to the home of the student.

**Please be aware of a change to our attendance process. If a parent note or doctor’s note is not turned in for an absence, tardy, or signing out early, the attendance clerk will enter a parent note for you.

**Any student entering the building after 7:30 am is considered tardy.

If you have any questions, please call our office at 270-651-3806. Thank you.

Attendance Reminder:

Our district policy is that families have 5 days to turn in excused absence notes. Please call the front office with any questions. Thanks!
