May 11: Read Reading Wonders: Happy New Year! and do Comprehension
Spelling: Write each word 5 times.
May 12: Read Reading Wonders: Dear Primo A Letter to My Cousin and do Comprehension
Spelling: Write the words in ABC order.
May 13: Practice spelling words. Ask an adult to test you on your spelling words to see which
words you still have not mastered.
May 14: Select a Leveled Reader to read. Discuss the Think Critically questions with a parent.

Write a Letter to a Relative or Friend
In the story, Dear Primo, Carlitos and Charlie keep in touch with one another by writing letters to each other. Select a special someone that you could write a letter to and have an adult help you mail it. I’m sure the person receiving your letter will appreciate your thoughtfulness and kind gesture.

Before listening to the story: Tell your child some information about Hanukkah. Ask them what they know about Alaska. Explain Alaska’s long hours of darkness.
During the story: Have your child compare similarities and differences between the characters and events in the story with their own life.
After the story: Discuss how the little girl felt about the moose living in her backyard. Have your child support his/her answer with details from the story.
