Whole group:

In a fairy tale writing unit, let students turn their writing into a film. After reading many fairy tales and talking about what makes a fairy tale different, practice planning and creating a Toontastic story as a whole class.

  • Prior to this writing sessions on how to write a fairy tale should have happened. The class should have written a fairy tale together and then should have started working on one themselves.

Take the fairytale you wrote as a whole class and use the story arc planning sheet to plan how your story will look in Toontastic or plan a new one with your class! Continue to talk about the vocabulary as it comes up on the sheet. Once the planning sheet is filled out walk the class through how to create a Toontastic film.

Independent work:

Once you have gone through how to make a story together, send students to start working on their own fairy tales based on the ones they wrote previously. Students should start by filling out the planning sheet. When that has been checked they can get on to Toontastic and start their stories.
