My name is _______ and I’m the _________ at the Chicago Learning Exchange. We are on a mission to inspire and support innovation that equips learners and leaders to close Chicago’s opportunity gaps. That means, we understand that educators must be provided a space to voice their needs as well as the needs of the families and youth they serve.

In last week’s check-in, Community member Aaron Cortes led a breakout session focused on how young people are Hacking the Pandemic by being resourceful in mask creation. Students are weighing the design cost vs the quality of the final product.

Also, Shoshi Sharpio continued the conversation on organizational collaboration for summer programs.

During today’s check-in, we will continue our summer program conversation; and there is a slot open if anyone would like to lead a breakout session.

Field Museum Career Chat with Scientists

Our Youth Council has started a career chat program with Field Museum scientists and staff. Members of Youth Council interview the speaker, and then leave opportunities for Q+A

These happen Tuesdays from 4:15-4:45 on Google Hangouts

Teens can register at bit.ly/FieldCareer20. The speaker changes each week, but we will send an update to everyone who indicates interest weekly

Community TV Network (CTVN), is a nonprofit that teaches Chicago's youth media literacy and digital video. They also run the nation's longest-lasting youth-produced TV show, Hard Cover.

Hard Cover highlights spoken-word projects by our students in honor of National Poetry Month and cover community issues from Chicago's underserved neighborhoods. You can watch part 1 of our 2-part poetry special HERE.
