Diverse parties including academia, industry leaders, SMEs, public sector develop solutions together better than any single organization could alone.

A co-investment approach de-risks and accelerates the pursuit of breakthrough digital solutions

and Canadian-owned IP.

The ‘customer voice’ is at the table, driving accelerated adoption to unlock opportunities for customers, providers and community.

Digital ID Ecosystem: Common Challenges

18

Adoption of digital identity standards across the economy is unclear due to parallel working body efforts across the world.

Creating Market Conditions

Standards

Regulatory

Federal Government is a data issuer and largest consumer of identity. Provinces and territories are primary sources of foundational identities. Regulation needs to enable digital identity solutions, including controlled access to data.

While each scenario provides perspective, commercial sustainability and viability are unclear, underdeveloped, or unproven. Considerations for liability should also be included here. Responsibility around personal data exchange needs to be carefully examined.

Promoting Market Growth

Sustainability

Inclusion

Ensuring that a critical mass of providers and users adopt digital identity is significant across all scenarios, while also ensuring those that are typically excluded can get access to services or can be provided with better experiences than those that exist today.
