  1. Speech + Voting for Fundraising Chair + Editor NEXT WEEK
  2. Speech + Voting for Secretary + VP of Service + Treasurer (3/2/23)
  3. Speech + Voting for Vice President of Admin + Voting for President (3/9/23)
  4. Announcement of New Board (3/16/23)

*Dates are subject to move up/change depending on the number of nominations*

Ground Rules For Elections

Candidates:

  • AT LEAST 50 hrs of community service
  • Dues paid
  • Speech (max 2 min)
  • Caucus (2 min)
  • Be respectful to other candidates

Audience:

  • Dues paid
  • 1 vote per position
  • Respect candidates’ time and efforts

No cheating (ie. DON’T record a candidate’s speech and send it to your friend who’s running for a position

A Gentle Note

Although it might seem like President or Vice President is a “superior” role compared to the other positions, all positions are equally important. Each position plays a critical role in keeping the club active and fun, and without an officer, the club would totally crumble.

With that being said, be sure to do your research on what YOU want to do, not what you think colleges want to see :)

Positions - President

Duties:

  • Working out logistical things (ex: paperwork, in charge of payments for events)
  • Lead board + general meetings
  • Be a resource to the members
  • Send in monthly advisor + president reports
  • Bridge the communication between advisor, club and division
  • Attend club + div + region + Kiwanis events

*The President represents the club, plans the term, delegate tasks, etc.*

  • Submit monthly recognition

  • Make flyers for events, other media
  • Manage the club website
  • Monthly submission - includes written articles visuals from events, and monthly club report

Duties:

  • Work with treasurer to
  • plan monthly fundraisers
  • Organize fundraisers (ie. Valentine Grams)
  • Talk/meet up with business owners to discuss potential fundraisers
  • Reach out to other clubs interested in joint fundraisers

REAP Climate Center

Come lend a hand and help us build community! Always something to do, either using tools or playing in the dirt. REAP is an Alameda garden community.

Please come for as long or as little as you like. Even a quick hello is okay with no need to RSVP. About a week before, we ‘try’ to update this post with the list of projects that may be featured that day. However, there are always all sorts of fun things to do. Alone or in a group. From gardening & watering to building & crafting, and much more.

Black Joy Parade

The Black Joy Parade Is a volunteer-run organization and movement which means Sunday, February 26, 2023 will be a bold celebration of the community and culture we’ve all created together.

What’s at The Black Joy Parade?

  • 200+ Black owned vendors including food, drinks, clothing, handmade items and more.
  • 2 stages of Black performances, including a soon to be announced headliner and The Black Joy Choir
  • Activities for the whole family at Lil Joy for kids, Games n’ Grooves and Healing Village.

Bloom ShaBoom

The annual Bloom Shaboom is a fundraiser and celebration of our work and community in SF.

Volunteer shifts are from 12:30 - 2:30 pm or 2:30 - 4:30 pm, and volunteers are welcome to sign up for one or both shifts. March 19th At Burrows Pocket Park 1 Burrows Street San Francisco, CA 94134

Volunteers will help to facilitate art activities, serve beer/wine in the Beer Garden, provide support to musicians and food vendors, and staff the Info Booth.

There will be a virtual volunteer training (recording available, if not able to attend) to be announced.

Oakland Marathon

Oakland Marathon is a Nationally recognized as one of the country’s best Running Festivals. Join them and experience Oakland’s diversity and beauty with a race that touches all aspects of Oaktown, and finishes with one hella awesome party.

Volunteer opportunities Include: Bag check, clean up, finish line, kids zone, setup and etc.

When: March 17th, Friday - March 19th Sunday

Color a Smile

Color A Smile is a nonprofit organization that distributes cheerful drawings to Senior Citizens, Our Troops Overseas, and anyone in need of a smile.

For this service you pick a drawing to color and then you mail it to anyone or the PO box where the organization mails it for you. It’s easy and free service hours.
